I think it is easy to implement, we just need to store one more number - scrollbar position. Of course I mean during runtime navigation, not via change dir commands.

That is the problem. The apk it is getting is not the valid apk to reinstall. I can often manually locate the apk file and copy it over and that one installs just fine.

Hi,

A few days ago, I recorded a quite long video sequence with my device (Samsung GSII, CyanogenMOD9 4.0.4) and today, I decided to transfert it to my desktop using the SFTP plugin.

It took quite some time, as the video is a bit bigger than 1GB but something got my attention : On the copy dialog, the progress bar grew until it reached 100% but the transfert wasn't finished at all.

On my desktop, I refreshed the destination directory to see that 750MB were transfered and still going on.

On the device, the progress bar stayed at 100% until the copy finished. After the copy, a quick check showed that the file was fine, not cut nor crippled in any way. This seems to be a display only issue.

There must be a bug somewhere or is it related to the SFTP plugin itself ?

Other thing about root functions anywhere.

i have splitted external sdcard on two partitions - fat32 mounted by android as usualy, and ext2 mounted from init.d by command:

mount -t ext2 -o rw /dev/block/vold/179:34 /mnt/sdcard-ext2

When root anywhere is "enabled", links to folders shown as files without extensions anywhere, except second partition of external sdcard (ext2). for this volume symlinks shows as regular files and folders.

It looks like root functions didn't work on linux partitions on external sdcard.

should notice, have new line added to vold.fstab: dev_mount sdcard_ext2 /mnt/sdcard-ext2 2 /dev/null
line does nothing, just a little trick for shortcut at tc home. Also root functions anywhere works fine for mounted samba shares. this applies only to external sdcard.

There are a few similar suggestions already, like Scroll position in dirlist or Change number of lines below the cursor at screen bottom. But I don't think anything has changed since then. I would prefer if the scrollbar restored its position to the state before entering a subfolder. But as it's mentioned in one of the linked threads, it's not that simple to implement.

Actually, if I'm half way through long list of folders the cursor always comes back to the fourth row from the bottom. If it comes to the fourth row from the top there would be no problem, it would actually be desired feature

The cursor position should be on the fourth row from the top because your focus was most likely on the first few items you just saw in the subfolder.

Afaik there's no option for this. Move to Suggestions?
It's surprising how many little details one ignores or tolerates until someone brings it up

When I have to go through a folder containing a lot of sub-folders it really annoys me that every time I return to parent folder the cursor is positioned on the fourth row (counting from bottom), when it would be great thing if it can position itself in the middle.

Is there any way around this?

Hi,

I've been doing some heavy tests to determine how TC performs with network related services and here are my results :

Test environment :

Wireless AP : Linksys WRT320N running DD-WRT firmware
Desktop : Linux on Core i7
Android : Samsung GSII running CyanogenMOD9 4.0.4
TotalCommander 2.02beta2
FTPCafe and AndFTP were used to compare behaviours as ALL have FTP and SFTP support. Only TC was used for WebDAV performance.
Bash shell to "scp" from the device to SSH server

The Android device features a SSH server (along with the client) manually installed (ie: Not installed via any APK nor "Click"-type procedure) which is Dropbear.

I own a server on the same network providing FTPS (FTP over explicit TLS) service (PureFTPd), SSH service (OpenSSH) and WebDAV (ownCloud) which is only accessible through HTTPS (ie: WebDAVS)

Test conditions :

Transfering a dummy file of about 400 MB to let the network flow stabilize
The network flow is ALWAYS in the "Android TO service" direction. FTP/SFTP/WebDAV clients UPLOAD the data and in the case of Android SSH server, the test was both initiated from the device and from the desktop but always respecting the aforementioned direction
Measuring the transfert rate reported by the app and verification through 2 probing tools on the server : Nethogs to get the immediate speed and BMon to get graph-like history data and get average speed.

Test results :

TotalCommander
- SFTP : "jumpy" fluctuations between ~720KB/s and ~960KB/s
- FTP : stable transfert ~3.6MB/s
- DAV : stable transfert ~3.3MB/s
Command line SSH
- Desktop : scp Android:/path/to/file . : stable transfert ~3.1MB/s
- Android : scp file Desktop:/path/to/file : stable transfert ~2.8MB/s
AndFTP
- SFTP : stable transfert ~1.25MB/s
- SCP : stable transfert ~1.45MB/s
- FTP : stable transfert ~1.9MB/s
FTPCafe
- SFTP : stable transfert ~1.43MB/s
- FTP : stable transfert ~2.87MB/s

Conclusions

FTPCafe isn't bad at all
AndFTP is average everywhere! Not sucking but not shining too...
Command line SSH rockets to the sky beating everyone!
TotalCommander ROCKS on network operations but sucks bigtime at SFTP. There's definitely a LOT OF ROOM for improvement here !

Bugs encountered
Only one ! WebDAV plugin on TC for a very simple thing. On FTP and SFTP plugins, I fill the profile with all data EXCEPT the Password so when I connect, TC prompts me to enter it.

This is NOT the case with WebDAV ! If the password entry is empty, it just FAILS to connect and does not popup a dialog to enter it. Need a fix on this Christian

Was du genauer gesagt beobachtest, ist, dass deine Kombination aus Notebook (Dockingstation-Grafik), Betriebssystem und TC sich nicht so verh�lt wie du es erwartest.

Bei mir verh�lt der TC sich (zugegeben mit einer nVidia-Grafikkarte) so wie ich es erwarte.

Aber ich kann das gerne auch heute Abend mal mit einem Vista-Notebook und Onboard-Intelgrafik ausprobieren um evtl. Einfl�sse der nVidia Grafik auszuschliessen.

The command line is special: When the active window already shows the contents of a plugin, the command will be sent to the plugin and not be evaluated by TC itself. Some plugins like SFTP will pass it to the server, some plugins like WebDAV just ignore it.

So when you try the command while in the normal file system, it will work.

Interessanter Arbeitgeber, der Software aus dem Jahre 2004 zwangsverordnet und dem Arbeitnehmer Aufgaben stellt wie das Suchen von Mp3 - Dateien mit einem Erstellungsdatum vor (was genau bedeutet eigentlich 1359300000, und kommt da auch eine Mp3Tag Version aus dem Jahre 1984 zum Einsatz?) zu suchen...

TC muss man ja nicht unbedingt installieren.
Man k�nnte ja auch auf die Idee kommen die "tcm801x32.exe" mit der installierten TC-Version und <Ctrl+PgDn> zu �ffnen; weiter die darin enthalten "Install.Cab" �ffnen; deren Inhalt in einen neuen Ordner kopieren;
dann ganz einfach die Totalcmd.Exe aus diesem Verzeichnis heraus starten, ...

Aber ich habe nichts gesagt...

I've compiled project in CPP\7zip\Archive\7z too and it works fine. Also it may be debugged, it is easier to edit its properties and to remove unused stuff.

I noticed that you are compiling a wrong directory. You should compile projects in "CPP\7zip\Bundles\". For the full library, compile "CPP\7zip\Bundles\Format7zF\". For the "7z extract only" compile "CPP\7zip\Bundles\Format7zExtract\". And so on - purpose of each folder is described in "DOC\readme.txt".

Excuse me but sometimes it works and sometimes not.

These C files don't include stdafx.h so they can't use precompiled headers. You need to disable precompiled headers in their properties. That will just slow down compilation a bit.

After adding macro EXTRACT_ONLY (and removing 7zHandlerOut.cpp from project because of multiple symbol error) I've got 120 KB DLL that allows unpacking from 7Z archives.

It seems that in case of extracting only theese files may be removed too: LzmaEnc.c, LzmaEncoder.cpp, 7zEncode.cpp, 7zOut.cpp, 7zUpdate.cpp. Now my DLL is 118 KB and it is still able to unpack 7Z.
