Switch to "Advanced" tab
At the bottom enable options "Find duplicate files" and "same size" "same contents"

If you don't have any files that should be copied to phone, you can simply delete files with old names in backup directory, just open Sync tool, do compare and then (filter and) delete files that should be copied to phone.

Hi

I have a bunch of sound files on my phone. I have renamed lots of them on my phone but I would like to do a backup of those files by copying them into an already existing directory. Per default the files are named: Voice 001, Voice 002, etc. But I have renamed them. Meaning that some of the files that I already renamed on my phone from e.g. "Voice 001" to "Cool idea". So now I have an old duplicate of same file which is still named "Voice 001" but I would like to delete it and have "Cool idea" instead.

Now I have lots of files and comparing them manually would take a long time.

Can someone please help me out? I can't seem to find "Compare files by content" from this guide http://www.ghisler.com/advanced.htm#tutorial_compare

Hi,

I'm not quite sure whether this is a Postbox or Total Commander issue, but TC has way better support, so I'm asking here first, sorry guys!

Postbox is a mail client based on Mozilla Thunderbird. When dragging files from a Dropbox folder into the compose window, it can automatically create a sharing link to the file on the Dropbox website, instead of attaching the file.

However: when I drag a file from my Dropbox folder into Postbox using the Windows Explorer, this feature works fine. Dragging the file from Total Commander instead does not work: Postbox does not recognize that the file comes from inside the Dropbox folder and attaches it directly. The question thus is: what is the difference between dragging from the Explorer and from Total Commander, such that in the first case, the Dropbox origin is recognized, while in the second case it's not?

Ah natuurlijk, die Admin modus is het probleem, daar had ik overheen gelezen.

De uitgebreide oplossing via de task scheduler waar White naar verwijst lijkt me bruikbaar, maar er bestaat ook een tooltje dat je de rompslomp uit handen neemt. Je kunt er volgens de maker gewone snelkoppellingen (op bureaublad, startmenu of taakbalk) UAC-vrij mee maken, maar ze ook automatisch laten opstarten aan het begin van de Windows-sessie. Het heet UAC-pass en is te vinden op http://freeavvarea.r00t.la/UACPass-en. Hopelijk werkt dat beter (ik heb het niet zelf geprobeerd, want net als White werk ik met XP).

Ik kan het me voorstellen als je er zelf geen tijd meer in wilt steken, maar ik wilde het toch nog even vermelden voor anderen die tegen dit probleem aanlopen en in dit topic een oplossing hopen te vinden.

I'm using TC 8.01 x64.
I downloaded and unpacked the x86 zip version of MPC-HC. Since I don't want to delete previous version, because sometimes there are bugs in the new ones, I simply unpack it and make a junction to the latest directory. This is how it looks like when listed with dir:

Then I drag the mpc-hc.exe to TCs button bar, so I can launch it from there. If I drag it from a real directory everything works fine. If I drag it from the junction it fails to launch with "Error Executing Program! (5)". I tried creating junctions to other programs and they work when launched from the button bar, it seems MPC-HC is somehow different. Running MPC-HC.exe from the junction through explorer also works flawless.

I dumped events with Process Monitor, it seems there is some problem with paths: Screenshots.

Check C:\Users\You\AppData\Local\GHISLER and C:\Users\You\AppData\Roaming\GHISLER folders, there may be some cache or other files. TC doesn't keep any settings in registry (except paths to INI files).

In addition to MVV's explanation:

In order to mount additonal disk partitions which have not been mounted automatically during the Linux boot process, use your Linux filemanager, Nautilus, Nemo, Thunar or whatever its name maybe, and mount the partition.

Once this has been done it should be accessible under /media/<name_of_partition> or in very recent Linux versions under /media/<username>/<name_of_partition>. (Hm, this is true on Debian based Linux systems like e.g. Ubuntu and Mint)

In Total Commander the folder /media will be accessible as Z:\media.

create an empty dir, create an empty file in this dir and then

1. long-tap on the file icon

2. drag this file to any empty space in this window-dir and drop it.

3. long-tap on the name of this file

now you will see action menu as expected.

Repeat step 1 - 3.

now you see selection menu instead of the usual menu.

hope you get the same result.

Sinon, il existe de nombreux plugins TC pour �a en mode USB. Mais attention, certains demandent de passer le t�l�phone en mode Root.

Perso, j'utilise le plugin MediaAudio2 (wpdplug.wfx). Il s'agit d'un plugin de l'auteur (Ghisler).

C'est simple. Tu connecte ton t�l en USB, tu choisis le disque "\", puis MediaAudio2, ton T�l apparait dans la liste des fichiers, tu cliques dessus et Hop !

Pour moi, avec un Galaxy S3 ou un Xperia, �a le fait !

TC shows filesystem as is, it is not the bug.

Configuration - Options - Ignore list: here you can add paths to items that TC should exclude from show/copy/move/sync operations.

i often you the tool built in total commander for a long time.

i always get boring the fact it list $RECYCLING.BIN folder in the item to synchronyze !

it should not do that because it is a system files folders !

Try to search these sections first and create them only if they aren't exist yet.
After restarting TC it will create all these sections in specified INI instead of main wincmd.ini. So it will be enough to remove this single file to clear all history. Button with command cmd /c @del "%TEMP%\tc_history.ini" will do it for you.

There are no volumes in Linux, all mounted devices are attached as mount points, try to open Z:\media or Z:\mnt, you should see them as subfolders. But I think your emulator should support adding virtual drives for mounted devices or another folders.

Dank voor je reactie en uitgebreide uitleg.

Helaas heeft ook deze manier niet mogen helpen.
Ik denk, dat het te maken heeft met het feit dat ik TC als administrator op moet starten. En dat dat dan de reden is dat het automatisch opstarten wordt tegengehouden.
Wel raar want toen ik Win7 draaide was het geen probleem om op deze manier TC automatisch te laten starten (al dan niet als admin), maar sinds ik Win8 draai wil het niet.

Ik laat het maar zo.

bedankt voor jullie medewerking in deze. Wat mij betreft mag dit draadje als afgehandeld worden beschouwd.

Ok, definitely not a but in TC then.

I agree with the cache thing but not on the destination system

You're right, that's the cache, but on Android's side! The destination system is a desktop computer with fast I/O, way faster than the devices WiFi transfer speed so it can't "slow down" the device. This is the other way around, the desktop spends most of its time, waiting for data to arrive

As noted in my other post ([Plugins] FTP, SFTP and WebDAV : Performance), TC's SFTP plugin is quite slow on transfer speed so my guess is that Android OS's cache buffers the file and puts the data on the NIC's (WiFi) sending queue.

As seen by TC's, the whole file was "copied" and waits for "transfer complete" message (sent by the desktop) but, in between, Android didn't yet finish to transmit data over WiFi because the slow transfer rate.

I think this is more like that, don't you agree?

I ran TC in Linux and it works but not as supposed to. It displays only the virtual C: drive which PlayOnLinux made for it and the Linux drive which is named Z:. The problem is that I have two more file systems which I can't make TC to display because the option "mount a device" doesn't work when running in Linux.
Here are two screenshots - one of what I actually have as in file systems and one of what TC displays.

Hier een iets langere uitleg die je hopelijk verder helpt:

1) Zorg dat in Total Commander verborgen bestanden en mappen zichtbaar zijn (Configuratie | Opties | Weergave | Verborgen/systeembestanden tonen).
2) Ga in Total Commander naar C:\Gebruikers\<naam>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Menu Start\Programma's\Opstarten.
3) Ga naar je bureaublad, rechts-klik op het snelkoppelingetje waarmee je Total Commander altijd opstart, en kies Kopi�ren.
4) Ga terug naar Total Commander en rechts-klik op een leeg plekje in het venster (waarin de net gekozen map getoond wordt) en kies Plakken.

Vanaf nu zal Total Commander als het goed is automatisch meestarten wanneer Windows start. Om het nog wat mooier te maken:

5) Je moet nu een .LNK bestandje (Total Commander's snelkoppeling) in dat venster zien staan. Rechts-klik erop, kies Eigenschappen en kies bij Uitvoeren voor Geminimaliseerd.
6) Ga in Total Commander naar Configuratie | Opties | Werking en zet "Pictogram naar systeemvak verplaatsen wanneer geminimaliseerd" aan. Dit zorgt er tesamen met 5) voor, dat Total Commander bij het opstarten netjes in de system tray verschijnt, zodat je hem bij de hand hebt zonder dat hij in de weg zit.

Desgewenst kun je na afloop 'Configuratie | Opties | Weergave | Verborgen/systeembestanden tonen' weer uitzetten.

Well, it is the cache which plays tricks on you

Though SFTP has written all the data (progressbar = 100%), it is still in the cache of the destination system.
TC is just waiting for the "Transfer complete" message.
This is sent after all data is finally written to disk.

Hallo zusammen

Seit kurzer Zeit bin ich auch stolzer Besitzer des Total Commander. Fr�her benutzte ich Produkte wie Norton Commander (DOS), den (Servant) Altap Salamander (Win XP 32-Bit) oder zuletzt den Speed Commander (Win 7 64-Bit).

Wenn damals, bei der Umstellung auf Win 7 64-Bit, bereits ein NATIVER 64-Bit Total Commander zur Verf�gung gestanden h�tte ...

Da die 64-Bit-H�rde zwischenzeitlich genommen wurde, machte ich mich in den letzten Tagen an einen Testlauf mit dem Total Commander. Schnell stellte sich heraus, dass ich alles (ohne M�he!) so einstellen konnte (Schrift, Spaltenanzeige, Verhalten beim Kopieren (NTFS-Berechtigungen), Favoriten, etc.), wie ICH das wollte. Zudem funktionierte ALLES ohne jegliche Probleme. Und dann noch die grosse Auswahl an PlugIns, wow!

Somit war der Kaufentscheid gefallen - und ich bin sicher, das Geld daf�r gut angelegt zu haben!

Dass ich rund EINEN Tag nach dem Kauf bereits Post mit der Programm-CD, Anleitung usw. bekommen habe, rundet die ganze Sache dann nur noch perfekt ab!

Gratulation zu diesem hervorragenden Produkt und ein grosses DANKE daf�r!

As I said, you can move all unwanted history sections into a single file in order to clean them by single button click.

Ok. Made a setup, with some errors it installed and now seems to be work. An internal file lister's history is "Find Text" item. Thank you ts4242 for your addon to TC. But I think this useful function must be in TC itself.

i !

i don't manage to get me out of this problem.

i tried every possibility and my files always stay locked by TC! i have to use unlock to free it !
when i press delete under TC, i just want it to go in trash and when i press shift+delete, i want it to be delete fully. That was the behaviour under tc7.

why can't it be so under tc8 ?

Why Ghisler doesn't do one button for deleting all history for this like in browsers? It will be a very useful function.

New version has been released. Main addition is send command that allows sending keypresses to active TC window. Also new tcd command allows to change dirs in TC panels. There are some examples in sections 1.2 and 2 of Readme file.

TCFS2 2.1.0.394:
+ tem function is now able to pass parameters
+ send function allowing to pass keypresses
+ additional parameters for tcm, tem and msg functions allowing to send messages asynchronously
+ findwnd function finds TC window
+ sendmsg function sends messages to specific TC window
+ optional parameter for send function allows to specify window
+ tcd function changes dir(s) in TC
+ terminate button in report error message
* strings may now contain syntax characters like ';', '|' and '('
* strings may now be passed as substituted parameters

It currently uses port "80" and IE's core functions to request all the plugin-related data - thus if IE is set up correctly & you can browse the net by using it, there should be no problem when trying to check for updates with Total Updater.

Do you have any proxy applied for the system? If so, you can manually edit "TotalUpdater.ini" file's [Configuration] section with the appropriate informations (ProxyEnabled=True, ProxyAddress & ProxyPort).

YES - that was it - with an interesting twist (regarding the root shell command) but just as I said above:

Welche TC-Version benutzt du? Seit Version 8.0 (IIRC) fragt TC mittels HELP SITE die unterst�tzten Funktionen ab, wenn FEAT fehlschl�gt (oder gar immer). Auf meinem steinalten BulletProof FTP-Server (Version 2.x) tut er das:

Ich m�chte Dateien auf einen FTP-Server kopieren bzw. mit diesem synchronisieren. Bei diesem Server bietet TC nicht an, das Datum der Dateien, die auf den FTP-Server kopiert werden, zu erhalten. Grund ist, dass beim Initialisieren der FTP-Verbindung das FEAT-Kommando fehlschl�gt zum Auslesen der Features des FTP-Servers. Auszug aus dem FTP-Log:

Jedoch funktioniert das MFMT-Kommandos zum Setzen des Dateidatums auf dem Server, wenn es von der Kommandozeile gestartet wird. Z.B.:

Nach neuem Einlesen wird das neue Datum richtig in TC dargestellt. Gibt es eine M�glichkeit das MFMT-Kommando f�r einen FTP-Verbindung in TC zu aktivieren, auch wenn das FEAT-Kommando fehlschl�gt?

Alternativ m�sste ich den FTP-Server-Betreiber �berreden, das FEAT-Kommando f�r mein FTP-Login zu erlauben.
