[WISH] 7zip build-in support

Post by *Aleksio »

It would be nice to have the same built-in support for 7zip as it is for .rar,
since 7zip has better compression ratio, and i think a lot of rar-users are switching to 7zip :)

He knows. But the wish is supported - the format is very popular nowadays. Unpacking should be possible without a plugin. It's even worth a place at the Options-Packer section.
F6, Enter, Tab, F6, Enter, Tab, F6, Enter, Tab... - I like to move IT, move IT!..

I think a plugin is the best solution. The packer plugin supports file decryption/encryption.

The Swiss laws forbid the export of any encryption products.

I know :)

I frequently use zip/rar/7zip, and DiskDir.
What I want is at least one more option at "Pack files" dialog (which is shown on Alt+F5),
so I can use hotkeys to switch packers:
Alt+Z => zip,
Alt+R => rar,
Alt+7 => 7zip [WISH],
Alt+'-' => .lst (DiskDir).
Currently I need to make many hand movements to switch between 7zip and DiskDir
P.S. I'm keyboard maniac ;)

You can help yourself with AutoHotkey if you are willing. If you need more help with this, post here.
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

I've been using this for a while, now I can say it not convient enough.

This works only when another packer is selected by default (e.g. ZIP/RAR). If "->" is selected, then combobox does not become selected, and pressing '7' or 'L' does NOT switch to "7z" or "lst".

If the combobox is already selected press 'ALT+-, then TAB, then 7'.

Too long sequence :(, and I need to pay attention to what is selected (but I'm pressing keys very fast... ;) ), so it would be nice to have 7zip as separate option.

From my point of view this is almost a "bug".
If the combobox gets the focus automatically on Alt+'-' when other packer is selected, then it should get the focus even when it is selected.
This small annoyance could be easily fixed by Mr. Ghisler.

I tested the TC on WinXP 64. After installing the 7zip and activated the shell integration, TC does not show the 7zip-contexmenu on holding the rightmousebutton.
