Feature request: Synchronize Dirs dialog defaults

Post by *denishowe »

I use the fab Synchronize Dirs function at least twice a day to sync my IE favourites between home and work. After hitting the Synchronize button you get a dialog box with options like "Delete all empty directories", "Confirm overwrites" (depending on what kind of sync you are doing). These default to safe values but I would really love to be able to change their default settings.

I also thought about it (I also often use this option) but it happened to me to delete some important data in spite of the confirmation question. So now I prefer once or twice press ENTER to confirm it but at least I have a bigger chance to stop myself before I do such a mistake again.

I do a lot of Synchronize every days, I would also like to have a INI option to set the "Confirm overwrites" to NO by default. 8)

Is there news available on the subject ? :roll:

Is there a keyboard shortcut to uncheck/check this "Confirm overwrites" option in the Synchronize dialogue box ? :?:

Best regards ;)

Is there a keyboard shortcut to uncheck/check this "Confirm overwrites"
Not if you use the internal English language.

But if you use an external language file, you can change string 1334 to support a shortcut - you can for example change the line:
1334="Confirmer écrasement des fichiers existants"
to
1334="&Confirmer écrasement des fichiers existants"
in the wcmd_fra.lng file to make Alt+C a hotkey for that in French.

You can get an English language file here:
http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/wcmd_eng.zip

Or an enhanced version (including the change mentioned above) here:

Hi petermad,

Thanks, I have updated my French file WCMD_FRA.LNG with :
1328="&Gauche à droite: Copier %i fichiers, taille totale: "
1329="&Droite à gauche: Copier %i fichiers, taille totale: "
1334="&Confirmer écrasement des fichiers existants"
and
1410="Copier les &autorisations NTFS (on doit posséder les droits d'Administrateur)"

We have to use "ALT" key to see the "G", "D", "C" and "a" characters underlined.

I have not pay attention that in TC "ALT" key have to be used to see the keyboard shortcuts. :oops:
I don't know since which version, it is like that (already like it in 6.56in the past...

I believe that Clo or Christian will read this entry to update the WCMD_FRA.LNG to be included in the future version 7.
I don't know who is the translator of French language files.

You don't spoke about an option to unckeck the "Confirm overwrites" option, so I should understand that nothing have been and will be done on that subject ? :?:

Best regards :wink:

This is actually a Windows feature - so don't blame TC - to change it:

1. Right click on your desktop
2. Choose "Properties..."
3. Click on the tab: "Appearance"
4. Click on the button: "Effects"
5. Remove the checkmark in: "Hide underlined letters for keyboard navigation until I press the Alt key"

This is one of the first things I disable in a Windows installation.

I don't know who is the translator of French language files.
That's Clo

That's up to Ghisler.

Maybe it could be a good idea to add a dialog box to Synchronize Dirs function (like on multi-rename tool), with option to Load/Save different settings, we could assign a different name to each one and therefore we'll be able to use them on an easier way.

I had done an email to Clo to take in account the changes for the WCMD_FRA.LNG :
1328="&Gauche à droite: Copier %i fichiers, taille totale: "
1329="&Droite à gauche: Copier %i fichiers, taille totale: "
1334="&Confirmer écrasement des fichiers existants"
1410="Copier les &autorisations NTFS (on doit posséder les droits d'Administrateur)"
But I have received no ack or reply from him to my email...
I believe that he will read this message to include these changes in the future TC 7. (It was not the case in TC 7RC2 :( )

Best regards :wink:
