Hi, folks.
You may be interested in learning
- a) that the last version of the 7-ZIP packer plugin written by Adam Strzelecki is available: 7Zip Plugin 0.5.8
- b) that Adam seems to be in need of a talented TC plugin developer who is willing to maintain the 7-ZIP plugin in future. Cf. here.
Adam Strzelecki wrote: | I'm not capable to maintain this plugin actively:
* I don't use Windows anymore (moved to Mac while ago)
* I'm involved in other projects (especially those that make me pay for my living)

Therefore if there's anobody who's interested in taking over the maintainance of this plugin please contact me. |
Added 30-Jan-2010:
c) that the current 7Zip plugin version which has been created by Sax0n can be found here: 7zip Plugin 0.7.x
Regards,
Karl

Changed the original thread title from "7Zip Plugin 0.5.8 Available" to "7Zip Plugin Continued ...", because this thread tells about how the 7Zip plugin developped after v0.5.8 much more than it tells about that particular version.
30-Jan-2010
Added the download location of the current 7Zip plugin versions.

As a replacement for the 7-Zip-plugin, MultiArc also does the job. This addon makes use of 7z.exe for unpacking and 7zG.exe for packing, so you see the original 7-Zip packer dialog also in TC:
http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=132447#132447
Instead of waiting for a new plugin version, you can simply update 7-Zip when necessary. One downside is that 7-Zip still writes to registry, so a cleanup might be needed after portable usage.

Anyone knows why the 7zip plugin can't unpack ISO files? I mean the standalone version of 7zip can unpack them!? |

The plugin says it supports SFX, but I couldn't find the referenced sfx files anywhere. Does anyone know where I can get these files??
"SFX support: put 7z.sfx, 7zC.sfx or 7zCon.sfx into 7zip.wcx folder
and use *.exe filename to create 7zip SFX archive. "
Thanks! |

I thank Adam for his work, and the new version.
I'm quite content with this plugin, so I will keep using it.
Whether it will be further developed or not. _________________ 0.618033988 |

Download and install 7zip and you'll get them. _________________ Image: http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/2110/pcbsdec7.jpg |

Hi Duny,
1. I just installed the 7zip-plugin V0.6.1. There seems to be a bug:
When the archive contains 1 or more folders you cannot delete any file or folder within the archive. This problem doesn't occur with plugin V0.5.8 (using the same archive).
2. One question: How can I define, which sfx-Modul is used (i.e. 7z.sfx, 7zCon.sfx) when creating a SFX-Archive (7za offers a switch: -sfx[{name}] ? |

The new version terminates with a write error if I pack a tree with a few subdirs and abour 200 files. This are 26 MB packed into about 5 MB using the old version. |
