With version 7.50 beta came finally the long awaited X64 compatibility, it 's working like a charm in Vista SP1 x64!
Very very nice indeed. |

Thanks for trying it! It's a very complex feature, so please let me know if you find any problems with it, e.g. shell extensions which do not work or so. _________________ Author of Total Commander

| x64 menu and TortoiseSVN submenu(Vista SP2 X64+Tortoise 1.6.2+TC 7.5b3). Submenu is truncated to only 5-6 columns (of ~ 20). Sometimes menu end in half of column. Maybe small buffer in TCMDX64.EXE or truncated string when parsing to TC or ....[/img] |

Please install 32-bit tortoise in parallel to 64-bit. This has the additional advantage of adding overlay icons. _________________ Author of Total Commander

I have both (x86 and x64) of TortoiseProc Instalated. In TotalCommander X64 Submenu is TortoiseSVN submenu, but submenu is truncated. Standard RightClick (x86) menu in Tcmd or standard menu in Windows Explorer (.. =X64) is OK

I don't have this problem here, sorry. But since Tortoise exists in both versions you can use the working one... _________________ Author of Total Commander

When one has large Subversion source tree running one version of TortoiseSVN is uncomfortable enough, let alone two (32 and 64 bit). That leaves me making choice: pick 32-bit to get icon overlays in TC, or 64-bit which is integrated in the rest of 64-bit OS. I opted for 64-bit (TortoiseSVN + SlikSVN + 64-bit Eclipse with Subversive)
After having 12 year run with TC (and before that WC) I last month decided to switch to competitor that has 64-bit version of "proven two pane technology". While it lacks some features of TC it has some others that TC does not, and it is similar enough and configurable so I was able to pick it up in a matter of days.
That said I'd like to use this oportunity to thank Christian for wonderful program, and exellent support of it. From time to time I will still read this forum and once Delphi comes out with 64-bit tools (and presumably TC makes use of them) I may come back to flock once again.
Thank you Christian and keep up good work. |

Unfortunately I cannot force Embarcadero (the new owners of Delphi) to create a 64-bit version, so I cannot help you with a 64-bit version, sorry. Good luck with your new file manager. _________________ Author of Total Commander

I know Christian. I hope my post didn't sound like I blame you. We make technology choices. We think they are the best ones for the time when we made them. And we have to stick to them, for the most part.
Embarcadero says mid-2010 for 64-bit environment, and mid-2009 for preview. Judging by the past record we can expect another year added to that. Such is life.
I would hate to see TC going the way of WordStar, WordPerfect, Lotus 1-2-3, Quattro, Norton tools, etc. Especially if that happens due to "fault" of 3rd party. |

And, after almost 3 years, I flew back to the TC flock today. It feels good to be back. Not that SC was bad. It's just that TC's minimalist setup I'm used to is unrivaled.
It was funny that my old setup was recognized and ported to latest version. All I had to do is map 2 keystrokes, adjust some colors and I felt right at home after just few minutes.
Well done Christian! |
