Thank you for your replies... now I'm not alone with my wish. I believe that discussed option will show up within next release and again legal users will gain yet another gratitude. And I agree that TRIAL users should have no ability to get rid of NOT REGISTERED.

I think it's not a problem at all for programmer to implement such a option in TC so it's just decision of AUTHOR if he will fulfill our ask.

Greetings,

BTW, it could be just a plugin for TC to customize caption ;)

Nightburn wrote:If the Title Bar did become customizable I would like to see options similar to what mIRC has. With % variables for current dir, path, left and right window pane, TC version, license name, and of course most anything else that would be reasonable to display in the titlebar.

This could be a feature that is completely disabled if TC is not registered :)
I completely agree! I'd love to see some variables in TC-title bar !!

I've designed several standard tools for programming. I sell them to companies.

All the tools show in his head-boards and printings the name of the company that has buy it. It's an assurance to prevent the programs being from copied. Nobody likes to see the name of another one on his screen.

The silence of Chistian in this treath is very significant.

The window caption should be customizable. Detailed license owner information are available by invoking cm_About.

I'm agree:
The window caption should be customizable.
.

... But I do not believe that Chistian wants to remove the license name from window caption. The rest can be for free design.
It's only a opinion.

Cmon... I'm using lot of different apps starting from Paint Shop Pro ending on MS Office and none of them have licensee in their titlebars, even Autodesk CAD's suites, which are far more expensive.

It's not an argument that it will prevent TC key from being copied, coz I'm (and I think Christian is also) aware that there are several cracks and so making licensee name whatever you want, and also not a problem to change app title from external app.

So please Christian let our wishes be fulfilled ;)

I guess you are right, although there are people that don't care much whose name is on the screen. :(

The "silence of Christian" might have a lot to do with the holidays.

Yes, the name in the title is the only "copy protection" Total Commander has - it's kind of a psychological copy protection. :)

I don't like programs which are locked to a certain PC, or which are time-limited (limited to x days of operation is OK), but no protection at all would also mean no sales. So far this strategy has been very successful, so I don't plan to change it.

What about a compromise? The registration name is appended implicitly to the user defined window caption; example: - C:\Windows - Total Commander 6.01 - Bill Gates
The ini file setting for this could be:
Caption=%CURRENT_PATH% - %APPNAME%
