Changing BOTH panels

Post by *Jqn »

Hi all,
Very often I need to do the same operations, which need the same folders in both panels.
Now, with Tabs it is much easier... But 8 tabs in every pane make me lose a lot of time looking for that folder I need.

It is possible to change both panels with only one click?
It is possible to insert two commands in one button (o menu option)?

Hi Joaquin!
8) Easy!
 In example, if you have C:\Music\Don Rodrigo in the left pannel,
just click once on the C drive-button at the right side, and you get the same at right!
 Of course, that needs to use 2 drive-buttons groups.
:?: If you want for change to another dir in both pannels as a single click,
I saw something here recently, but I don't remember exactly (sorry, I become an oldie!)
 I think it was a question from Bofoo, about my idea of dir-buttons (here or in the poll)

Claude

You can also try using Directory Hotlist (saving the desired diectory together with the target one).

That's Boofo, not Bofoo (although I HAVE been called worse than either one of those a time or twelve ;)). Claude, where have you been? You never stopped back by the site, sir. ;)

Hi Raymond, bonsoir,
¤ Like I said to Jqn in the first reply, it's easy to get the same dir in both pannels using the drive-buttons...
:( Moreover, the command to get that directly didn't work very well at home:
- I have set a button in the bar with it, but the most times it was a mess to come back at a normal pannel-display, something locked-up...
:) Friendly regards,
Claude

Hi, Clo
Thanks for your reply. But for me, in most case what I want is that when I swtch to one tab, another panel could switch to a pre_specified tab/location automatically, not just the same dir as source panel (BTW which's easy to get by Ctrl+left/right arrow).

Anyway, It's not a too big deal. The "target path" feature of hotlist works well for me.

:) It's a bit complicated for newcomers in TC (I mean: the tabs using...).
it's the reason for which I though to an alternative optional simpler tool (Topic: Tabs or not tabs, just an idea...) here:

:D Hi!
It seems that the Jqn's problem is not to launch TC with parameters, to get the same dir in both pannels, but to get that when TC is already running.

Parameters:
/O - If Total Commander is already running, activate it and pass the path(s) in the command line to that instance (overrides the settings in the configuration dialog to have multiple windows)

 It was the original request. Not command line and so on.
96% in almost 100,000 registered users are not on these forums, and use TC in the simpliest way...
:| Finally, please, post more friendly sentences.
