Editing files on FTP

Post by *Bari »

Hello.

When I want to edit files directly on the FTP, I open file in PSPad editor, make changes and save file. But if I want to copy changes to the FTP, I have to close PSPad and then confirm that I want to transfer changes to the FTP. It's quite uncomfortable to close PSPad allways when I want to send changes back to the FTP. I want to send changes automatically when I save the file in PSPad.

Thanks

Hi there, i have the excatly same frustration. FileZilla checks whenever the file is changed and offers the upload/rewrite dialog everytime i save the file. But when i bought Total Commander, I just realized that i HAVE TO close PSPad to be able to upload. But i want to edit file repetitively (as a web developer). If this could be implemented / improved, i would be very happy..

I'm considering it for TC 8.1. Please remind me when TC 8 final is out.

Can we really expect this feature in 8.1 or will it be delayed?

Thanks

This functionality is already available for sftp plugin from Ghisler

I would like the fuctionality for FTP would be the same than is ready for SFTP Plugin, for example:

1. Quick view
2. Auto upload if there is changes
3. Enter or double click open files (as in local drives)

Another related request it would be integrate FTP, FTPS and SFTP in the native connection manager of Total Commander (without having to use Plugins)

IIRC I think that this is not possible because of Swiss law.

I know this is a old discussion.

But i think the situation has changed with SSH libraries.

Where is the diference between the current solution for FTPS and the solution it would be necessary for SFTP?

If "add your own OpenSSL" method works (legally) for FTPS, it would work the same way for SFTP.

But much rather than getting SFTP integrated into TC, I'd like to see FTP kicked out from TC into separate plugin. It could still be bundled with TC by default, so it would not be any inconvenience for user. But if FTP lost its privileged status and the plugin interface got improved/extended, then any plugin could use the connection manager and the "<number> drives", which is the feature that I miss most in current SFTP plugin.

But it's OT in this thread.

Any news if this feature is going to be added soon?

Any news if this feature is going to be added soon as an option?

For those who work with many files to be uploaded via FS plugins(SSH, FTP, Android and many more) It is very important.

Sometimes I even lose my changes becuse when I exit the editor, I had some connection problem! :(

FileZilla auto checks if the file is changed, and offers to the upload everytime I save the file. It is better then TC, but my suggestion for TC is that as an advanced option, I will not be asked any questions at all - TC should auto upload after every change(only on error, it might show message).

Also as an option, TC should not ask about temp files every time I close the editor, since every change is now saved, there is no need to ask what to do with temp files. Keep them or delete them it is not important.

Please help us. Thanks. 8)
