It looks like these are not directories, but symbolic links pointing to other locations. Links are essentially just files containing the target path. Unfortunately there is no way for TC to recognize them as links if the function doesn't report them as folders, sorry.
Try accessing the device with the Explorer interface in TC:
Commands - Open desktop folder - My Computer - Device name.

Hello,
I can confirm that problem.
I connected an Android 4.03 device. (Huawai Mediapad rooted)
I also got these "files" with 4096 bytes, after I copied a folder from Win7 to the device with the wdp plugin. On the device with running "TC for Android"  the folder is shown normally and contains the transferred files.
I also can not delete this folder with wdp plugin.
It ist shown on PC normally with the adbplugin.
But the wdp plugin is much faster (16 Mbit/s) than the adbplugin (600 KByte/s) This is only for big files. With small files it seems not to be much faster.

Hi,
FWIW I can also confirm the issue with some directories showing up as files. The device is a Sony Tablet S with Android 4 installed. Interestingly, even if I create a directory using TC it then shows up as a file. Opening Command | Desktop folder and then the device works correctly, all folders show up as folders.

Using this method ALL folders work correctly, BUT all files do not show their extensions for some reason (e.g. I cannot view the file because it complains that path is not found) BUT if I copy files to my local drive, then they are copied with proper extension and I can view them perfectly fine :/ Weird. |

Maybe you need to enable the display of extensions for associated files in Explorer?

Don't know if this is an error or just stupid expectation on my side. This is the first time that I've connected my portable MP3 player with this PC under XP. I was surprised to find no new drive although the typical Windows sound played. Finally I found the player under MyComputer, but not under Drive Manager. While searching the Internet I came here, downloaded and installed this plugin and was very happy to be able to access the drive with TC again. My first action was to press F7 to create a new folder when this error messag box popped up:

I should mention that I had not been using this device for some time. The last time was under Windows 2000 where it was recognized like any other USB hard drive and assigned a drive letter. The need for this plugin is not that clear to me, to be honest. |

Well, if it uses a drive letter at Win 2000, it will do so at Win XP as well.
There is a naughty "feature" of Windows which may play tricks:
The new usb device will catch the next available drive letter.
Usually this works fine, but it fails if there is already a mapped network share with this letter.
Windows does not recognize this as occupied and will choose it for the usb device as well (though it is not accessible there).
You may assign a dedicated drive letter for this device by Disk Management at Control Panel (diskmgmt.msc) or using USBDeview

Don't think so. Win XP with Windows Media Player 10 or higher works differently than Win2k/XP with WMP 9 regarding portable media players.
I'm aware of the Drive Letter Problem. That's why I a) use Uwe Sieber's USBDLM, and b) checked drive status in Computer Management > Drive Manager. All connected and recognized drives are listed there, even those without assigned drive letter. The portable media player does not show up there when connected, only under My Computer > Internal |

Hi Chris,
it would be really great if the displayed dates/time would consider localized time in order to perform "Directory synchronization".
The Android development goes IMHO in the wrong direction. Currently there's absolutely no way anymore to access to JellyBean via USB drive access.. 
If they are going add more of these disadvantages, they will lose users - or maybe MS sponsored them...

Hey, thanks for answering. That's bad, or we would say "so 'ne schei***". What if you add an option to ignore +/- X full hours for dir syncing. Other sync programs allow e.g. to enter a desired fixed number of hours and ignore then from there +/-1 hour.
AddOn request: As I always experience problems around dir sync vs. bad times somtimes, why you don't simply add another checkbox for explicitely syncing the times (instead of copying the files), when the size and minutes and seconds match exactly? This would very quickly allow me to sync "out of sync" times.

You might (optionally on accessing an MTP device for the first time) create a temporary null byte file on the MTP device and compare the file time to the system time. |
