Plugin Request: Extraction of Ghost/Driveimage archives

Post by *icfu »

Well, I just finished a new system setup with Ghost images and now my last task is to extract some directories and files out of a 5GB archive under Windows so I have to install the Ghost package to be able to do so.

Are there any plans to support cloning formats (Ghost/DriveImage) either in a new plugin or through some existing one?

Maybe such a thing already exists and I'm not aware of it?
I would be glad to hear some good news, bad news will be ok, too, of course. ;)

As you mention it, I'd be also very fond of such an plugin.
I have a compressed ghost Image of an old 4 Gig HD but there is no partition to restore it to.

The biggest trouble would probably be to get the specs for the formats used.

Too big/complicated for us to develop, but I'd personally like such a plugin too :)

Without plugin you can extract files/directories with imageexplorer. There is an explorer in Ghost 8.0 (GhostExplorer) and DriveImage (as I remember with name PqImageExplorer). And in case of Ghost you have not to install it, just extract the *explorer.exe from image/msi file.

@ctiberg:
Format specification is a prob, you are absolutely right. But maybe some genius has been able to "guess" its structure. ;)

@Negyedi Vilmos:
Thanks for mentioning the alternative. Next time I'll install a suitable msi-plugin and extract the exe manually.
