As the subject says. If I want to view the file as an archive, i have to change the first line from "Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00" to "REGEDIT4".
Another problem is, after receiving the messagebox "Error in packed file..." the plugin does not close the handle to the file, i have to restart TC in order to be able to edit the file.
REG plugin doesnt recognise regedit5 files :-(

I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!
Try registry 2.0, it's the best reg plugin right now, the other two have serious bugs and/or missing features:

That is an fs plugin for accessing the registry. What i mentioned is an archive plugin for reading *.reg files.

Even if you convert the reg files from Unicode (which is standard under XP regedit only, not under Windows 2000 iirc) to DOS Text you can't open them till you change header to "REDEDIT4".
But, registry 2.0 can export reg keys as DOS Text per default setting, just the same as if you would use regedit and always have to choose "Win9x mode" manually while exporting.
For existing reg files you can use Metapad to convert to DOS Text.
The plugin doesn't look like it would be maintained.
