You also distribute private information?
As I said just a text file without an extension.

Why should excluding a type of drives from 'refresh on activate' lead to poor performance? I guess it can be said the opposite is true. Sounds strange to me.

What had been your previous setting? If you removed the 'normal' drives from the exclude list it's would be no surprise that their reread needs more time.

I will not repeat many times that:

\ (all HDD) Poor Performance
"Single Letter Partition E to Z" Better Performance

I tested and are visible differences in performance in reading speed.

How to fix it for all physical disks (all partition)?

DEFECT: Configuration -> Refresh

Post by *makinero »

Bug: Configuration -> Refresh

Set Letter Partition: E to Z
Path:
Open Large Dir Z:\Folder\Subfolders
Open Large Dir W:\Folder\Subfolders

Better Performance 5-10 second
------------------------------------------------

Set backslah: \
Path:
Open Large Dir Z:\Folder\Subfolders
Open Large Dir W:\Folder\Subfolders

Very Poor Performance 3 minutes or longer (if BUSY)
Application busy, freezes, you have to wait a long time to read each large directory
-----------------------------------------------
I tested on stable versions TC 7 - 9
-----------------------------------------------

I do not want to change every time a partition letter.
How to set for each physical disks and partitions as f*cking backslah not help

BACKSLAH ===> only reduces the reading speed and application performance

SINGLE LETTER ===> good performance and speed

\ stands in no way for all HDD !
It means Network pathes as you can clearly read on the config menu.

To say it again as you don't read:
\ stands for Network pathes (UNC) and not for any drive letter.

So you are basically saying that you can increase the reading performance by not doing a refresh on focus gain? Well I would say the perceived performance can actually be improved by avoiding the refresh on focus gain. I can recommend do disable this type of refresh altogether but it's absolutely not related to the actual reading speed as you suggest in your quote.
