TC not portable: It writes an empty folder

Post by *Axis »

Hi.

Total commander 9.12, 64 bit, win8.1pro64bit, wincmd.ini:

[Configuration]
UseIniInProgramDir=7

Despite this It always writes an empty folder ("GHISLER") to
"c:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\"

Thanks

Configuration - Options - Thumbnails - Thumbnails: general => Database Location ...?

You can change the default value %$LOCAL_APPDATA%\GHISLER to %COMMANDER_PATH% if you want [or leave it blank].

You should also override location of tree files in INI...

TreeFileLocation=, TreeUpdateLimit=

... Ahh, yes .. TreeFileLocation=%COMMANDER_PATH%\treeinfo%D%.wc could be an option ...
... [F1, search for: TreeFileLocation= ... to see more options]

Hidden files are created in this case under %COMMANDER_PATH%, e.g.
treeinfoD.wc
treeinfoI.wc
treeinfoJ.wc

D,I,J are drive letters.

In this context, the parameter TreeUpdateLimit= may also be interesting.
If the file size of the corresponding .wc file is larger than 2048 kB, then TreeUpdateLimit should be set to a larger value.

I would create a subdir in %COMMANDER_PATH% for such files...

And, I think that it is better to disable thumbs in case of portable TC on USB stick (different computers, different image folders...).
