TC10.50b1+: crash after waking up the system
With the advent of 10.50 on Win 7 x64, after waking up from hybrid mode, an error with the termination of TC very often began to occur:

These addresses are not in the Total Commander address range. Can you try running it without any plugins for a while to check if the crashes go away?

Re: TC10.50b1+: crash after waking up the system
I also think it has something to do with plugins, but the problem appeared without installing new ones.
I can check with a clean config, but it's unlikely to do any good. And I don't know how long the tests will last.

Re: TC10.50b1+: crash after waking up the system
Please do, it may be a plugin doing something strange which just happens to work with 10.0.

Or TC 10.50 does something strange that creates problems for a plugin.
I will run an additional instance for comparison. But I'm not ready to drive the system back and forth to sleep and back yet, since this is not a permanent error.

Re: TC10.50b1+: crash after waking up the system
Maybe it's also caused by the compiler change, which catches exceptions in third party dlls now?

Maybe. But how should I know?
I can note that EFD8 is always present at the end of Exception EAccessViolation. And 0224 next.

I doubt it because this is about the 32-bit version of TC (totalcmd.exe), not the 64-bit one (totalcmd64.exe). Or did you change the Delphi version as well?

Re: TC10.50b1+: crash after waking up the system
Sorry, I only read the x64 in their first post. Maybe they should try switching to the 64-bit version...

Who are they? I addressed alone. Are you suggesting to abandon dozens of plugins just because something went wrong in the new version? Not to mention that I also use TC on Win x32. And what about fix it?ghisler(Author) wrote: ↑2022-06-13, 08:22 UTCMaybe they should try switching to the 64-bit version...
I emailed yesterday. No answer.ghisler(Author) wrote: ↑2022-06-12, 07:47 UTCPlease contact me by e-mail if you want a test version.

Ghisler said the address is not in TC's address range. I suggest to disable the plugins one by one (or a couple at a time) until TC stops crashing. Or do it the other way around and disable all of them and enable them step by step. Maybe also avoid calling the Windows context menu in TC, perhaps the culprit is a shell extension (again).
And yes, I'm aware that this takes quite some time to figure out, and it can be annoying.

Re: TC10.50b1+: crash after waking up the system
"They" is also used when it's unknown whether a person is a "he" or a "she".Who are they? I addressed alone.
To figure out which plugin is causing it, I recommend that you temporarily remove half of them from the wincmd.ini, and then test. If the bug is gone, the problem plugin was in that half you removed, otherwise it's in the half that remained active. Then continue with half etc. until only one remains.

Re: TC10.50b1+: crash after waking up the system
In this case, it will take tens times more time than in a situation where the error appears in the process of work. It will take weeks, if not months.
You could easily guess without hints.ghisler(Author) wrote: ↑2022-06-13, 13:22 UTC"They" is also used when it's unknown whether a person is a "he" or a "she".
I am well aware of this approach. I myself have recommended it more than once. But imagine how much I, with my 380 plugins, would have to send the system to sleep to get a result? I don't need an insufficiently working TC for such a protracted period.ghisler(Author) wrote: ↑2022-06-13, 13:22 UTCTo figure out which plugin is causing it, I recommend that you temporarily remove half of them from the wincmd.ini, and then test. Re: TC10.50b1+: crash after waking up the system
Well, you can start with those that you've added or updated recently. Use debug functionality if the plugins provide any (my plugins do).
