Incremental counting of occupied space in a footer panel.

Post by *AntonyD »

In Configuration set at Options\Tabstops(Data formats) - Size display (bytes); Header\footer (bytes)
Create Folder structure: ABC\DEF. Go to DCF\ folder.
Copy here some file with some size. For ex, it will be precisely 1000 b.
No go back on a level of ABC\ folder. Put cursor on a "DEF" item. Now it's an active element.
1) NOT YET a bug description - but a question....
my TC 11.02 DOES NOT show anything in a below panel named in a help system as "(Number of selected files)"
and we call it a footer (right?) except the name of the active element - in our current case it will be "DEF".
TC 11.03RC4 immediately shows string: "0 b / 0 b in 0 / 0 file(s), 0 / 1 dir(s)". Let's call this "initial ZERO info line".
I've rerun TC 11.02 with a vanilla INI and (surprise!) GOT this info line in a footer panel.
So - WHAT kind of options can change this behavior - I could not with easy to find out this moment.

2) NOW it IS a bug description.
Press space key. And "DEF" active item in a file panel become selected and in a footer we will see:
"1000 b / 1000 b in 0 / 0 file(s), 1 / 1 dir(s)".
Press space key. And "DEF" active item will be unselected. BUT in a footer we will see now NOT
an "initial ZERO info line", but this:
"0 b / 1000 b in 0 / 0 file(s), 0 / 1 dir(s)"
Press space key. And "DEF" active item in a file panel become selected and in a footer we will see:
"1000 b / 2000 b in 0 / 0 file(s), 1 / 1 dir(s)".
And now repeat pressing the Space key and look as 2000 will transfer into 3000/4000/5000/6000/.../... bytes.

I have no idea - the only time I only see the dir/file name in the footer is in branch view. I tried with different settings in the "Refresh" and the "Tabstops/Data Formats" - but I cannot reproduce what you saw in TC 11.02 - do you still have the .ini file you used when you saw it in TC 11.02?

NO, it's not a branch view. A Full. Ok, let's wait a little of Ghisler's variants)))

INI yes - I have - will try to find out at least from which [section] this behavior is coming from....

I know, Brach View does not show directories, so you couldn't have placed the cursor on DEF

no diff. If you read all till the end my posts above you would notice that I said:
"So after answering on my 1 question this topic can be closed, IMHO."

so only pls explain the diff of info which is outputting in a footer: as I described it
in the 1 bullet of my initial post here. And that's all. Topic can be closed after that.

About your question 1), Total Commander shows the file details while in brief view (only file names in the file list), and switches to the summary as soon as you select something.

Maybe we call it in a different ways?
https://ibb.co/Qmsxqrm
I set Full view, activate one folder (NOT preselect it!!!!) and in a footer
I see this info line with all sizes. AND I call it exactly as a whole SUMMARY...
And what about you?

P.s. EVEN IF I will activate ".." element - info line will stay on its place...

with vanilla INI. and fresh install of RC4.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean. You are in full view and it shows the summary as expected?

AntonyD,
my TC 11.02 DOES NOT show anything in a below panel
Show screenshot of what 11.02 shows for you.
Also:

Code: Select all

LongInStatus=0 Show long name in status bar in mode view-full.

LongInStatus=0
Bingo!
Thx! Now I understand WHICH option is changing the overall senses and the view of info at the footer.

2ghisler(Author)
IMHO it would be much easy and pleasant to move this option form Direct INI support into the GUI form.

P.S. as I said - NOW topic can be closed.
