Anyone experienced with tools similar to AutoHotKey and AutoIt can you please tell me which do you think is better or if a freeware alternative is better?
I need the keyboard/mouse capture ability which seems to be missing from AutoIt if I'm not wrong despite the fact that based on the forum traffic it looks better than AutoHotKey.
Script to exe convertion is present on both tools which is nice and a must for my needs.
WindowsPowerPro was also suggested in this forum which looks very powerful but has a totally different approach and I find it a bit hard to learn (letting scripting aside).

It was slightly enlightening since the discussion was emphasised over scripting abilities mainly. I installed and played a little with both tools and I really liked the recorder module of AHK which I find missing in AI3. Or am I missing something?icfu wrote:See this thread, it will enlighten you.

In this thread many pros and cons are discussed and you find links to more in detail discussion in the AHK forum.

AHK is better for small scripts, AI3 is better for bigger ones because it has the better syntax.
On the contrary AHK has better hotkey support due to the keyboard hook which is missing in AI3.

Yep, you are missing something. For AutoIt3 you get an adjusted SciTE editor equipped with many additions like a macro recorder on Alt-F6 for example:Or am I missing something?

I would say, you need AutoHotkey in this case, the thread also covers this subject:I need the keyboard/mouse capture ability

I wonder how your directory list looks like with all those useless entries.

So, let's see what you have quoted from me:Look for yourself http://www.qfile.de/dl/17659/totalcmd.ini.icfu.html
Your menu contains only fixed locations, just like mine. The directory list is useful for fixed locations only.
Indeed, there are no special target paths, only the basic registry hives. It makes no sense to bookmark stuff you only need once.
I don't wonder anymore, I have got from you what I had expected, thank you.I wonder how your directory list looks like with all those useless entries.
