Shortcut to Explorer

Post by *Smoker »

Greetings Folks

I've searched but without success.

I am trying to find a way to have a shortcut to Explorer and possibly dos command window, starting at either the current drive and directory or the highlighted one.

I'm sure someone has done this.... just hope they see my plea for help.

Thanks

Explorer: (???) If context menu is not enough, create new button on buttonbar or StartMenu item (Start -> Change Start Menu)
Command: EXPLORER.EXE
Parameters: %P
Icon File EXPLORER.EXE ( for buttonbar only)

DOS Window: Commands -> Run DOS

Gral Thanks

I'll use those although I was hoping for a solution that would let me assign it to a PF key.

Also, in stead of %P is there something else to use to select the directory that is highlighted ?

Explorer : configure Start Menu and select keyboard shortcut from "Shortcut key" dropdownlist.
DOS: Configuration -> Options -> Misc -> Redefine Hotkeys (Keyboard Remapping)
Select key you want to use and browse "Command" dropdownlist to "cm_ExecuteDOS (Start DOS)"
Also, in stead of %P is there something else to use to select the directory that is highlighted ?

2 smoker:

Try this to force Explorer to start at the folder of your choice:

Go to your Start Menu folder. Find the shortcut for Explorer, right click on it, and select Properties.
Click on the Shortcut tab, and change the Target so it reads:
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n,/e,c:
and Start In reads: %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%

Now when you right-click on a folder in TC and select "explore", Explorer will open with your selected folder highlighted and its contents displayed in the right-hand pane.

explorer.exe /select, %p%n

there is a comma in there ... don't forget about it....

for DOS just write 'cmd' in command line of TC and it'll open automatically in TC's current dir.
