Simple Rename Bug
in versions 6.53, and 6.54 (both betas), when i try to rename a file or directory using Shift F6 (i mapped also Delete key), when i want to delete the first character it deletes the entire filename (or directory name). and it's annoying to use Right Arrow+Backspace keys instead of Delete key.
the versions below 6.51 (including) doesn't have this bug. i never tested 6.52.

It is not a bug it's a feature. Just press Shift+F6 and then F6 again, then you will be at the start of the folder name, unless there is a period in the folder name.

You can switch this behaviour with a wincmd.ini entry:
But, I think Leonard means that in 6.50 he was able to press Shift+F6 and have NOTHING marked. Well, I don't remember such a functionality and when checking 6.50 here I can't reproduce that either.

Code: Select all
RenameSelOnlyName=1

F6 after Shift-F6 seems to be equivalent with Home key. but still, when i press Delete, i lose the entire filename.
Not here, I only get the first character deleted doing that - weird.F6 after Shift-F6 seems to be equivalent with Home key. but still, when i press Delete, i lose the entire filename.
Win XP SP2, TC 6.54 pb3

that's what i'm saying. that worked until 6.51 without any problems.sqa_wizard wrote: If you want to delete the first character only, you have to press HOME and then DEL key.
but in the next versions... the problem it's not the first caracter (i gave only an example), but that using of delete key is disabled for editing. wherever is the cursor after i pressed shift-F6 and moved the cursor (not making any selection), it deletes the whole filename (directory name). this must be a bug, not a feature.
i just tested public beta 3 and the same problem.
Please Test with a fresh ini. You could achieve it running Total Commander with Parameter:
which will create a new inifile in the program dir named 'test.ini'.
I guess you got a hotkey set on your del-key. So a TC with new ini-file would not show this behavior.

Code: Select all
totalcmd.exe /i=.\test.ini
