STW - T.com Error - Access Violation

Post by *St. Wolf »

"http://stw.of.by/Temp/STW - T.com Error - Access Violation - 14-02-2006.png"

Irfan Viewer alerted two-three times about invalid data or format of good jpg, and then Access Violation in T.com. (Irfan was executed not as plugin - by pressing Enter key).

I think, image contains many additional info:)

What has this to do with TC?
Your memory is low, so buy more RAM or increase SWAP file size.

No matter how much RAM you have, error box in lower right corner means that there was no room left at that time.

If it happens again call task manager and check what app is eating the RAM.

Btw, don't use "" for links. ;)

To St. Wolf:

Presenting the URL as http://stw.of.by/Temp/STW - T.com Error - Access Violation - 14-02-2006.png would have worked

Code: Select all

Anyway even if no memory allocations are possible TC must not crash this way.

Right. Which brings us back to the original issue.

And here is the question to St. Wolf:
Did the same error occur more than once? Is it even reproducible? How? Or was it a one-time problem?

well... let's say should not. You are programer and therefore you know that "OutOfMemory" is error that si very hard to handle, mainly when it happen somewhere on low layer of code and you have to propagate it to upper levels

It's for the first time with T.com 6.54 (due to this version was appeared not so far). I do nothing to prevent this in future - so, time will show:) With previous versions I had such errors many times (I can find screenshots in my letters to Christian if you need it).

Good morning, St. Wolf.

So it will very likely re-occur. I would suggest you watch out for the low virtual memory popup when TC crashes again, because as Ado points out, it may be hard to keep a programme from acting strange if Windows has run out of virtual memory.

I noticed in your screenshot that you had quite a few applications running and sometimes several instances of the same programme. I assume this may well eat up even 2 GB of RAM. So it may well be worth trying not to keep more applications open at a given time than is really required.

I like T.com and this situation has no any influense to my files, so I wrote this only of the Alert "Please report this error to the Author" - I want to help make T.com better :)

Yes, I need in many maximized windows at the same time, I have no icons on my desktop, I have no free space on my drives... It's me, it's my way :-)

I'll keep in mind your and Ado's notice for critical operations, thanks.
P.S. But me is me - or, how this will sound right?
