[REQ] Archives as dirs

Post by *majkinetor ! »

When I open some archive its full path is listed in panel's caption. Now I press F2 on ".." and it doesn't works, while it works on regular dirs.

I know this is currently by design, but this is very very bad design.
Is there any way to fix this, Ghisler ?

You want to reread an archive?

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

No, I want to paste full path to the file in the archive in the panel's caption (don't know how you guys call this TPanel internally)

Consider this: I go and search for some files in archives. Then I have list of founded files with feed to listbox disabled but "Go to file" still works in search dialog ?! When I copy/paste this path manually nothing happens. Also, in search I have different notation: on that part of the path where archive begins I have slash / instead of normal backslash \ and when I click go to, the path looks normal again in caption.

So, I just want to be able to paste full path to the file in the archive like it is regular dir. It is currently very bad designed if we take into account "threat archives like directories" option.

I guess you mean the "cm_RenameOnly" on the '..' to select the path in the 'currrent directory' field?

Here it works (with standard [shift]+[F6]) also with archives. Have you possibly changed your hotkey? Or did I get you completely wrong?

Press F1 and choose 'User interface'. There are nice pictures and names you can refer to. I have to do this all the time because I only know the german names by heart.

It works ?!
I doubt we speak about the same.

I talk about "current directory" line on top of TC panel.

Try this: create 1 zip file, with 1 folder and 1 file in it.
Let it be: c:\test.zip, let the folder be "myfolder".

Question: can you paste :
   c:\test.zip\myfolder    or    c:\test.zip/myfolder (search notation)
in "current directory line" and press {ENTER}. TC should position you there if that works, like for normal folders.

I misunderstood. I thought you mean that you can't copy this path. But you are right, TC considers this not as a valid path that it can change to.
