Select the files (or directory names) you want to rename and press ctrl-m.

... then press F1 first, read how to use it. Then if you still have questions, search the forum, many threads deal with regular expressions, and MRT in general. If you still have questions, just ask here :-)

You can also use Shift+F6 (normal rename) and click the option "rename each file separately" if you want to enter the names by hand.
