Running TC when not on internet, causes freeze

I have an HP dual core notebook running XP Media Edition. TC 6.54a causes my machine to lock up, or lock then auto reboot after about 3 or 4 minutes. If have an internet connection established before I start the app this does not happen. What is TC doing in bacground that requires connection to internet????

This concerns me for annoyance of not being able to use on planes (I travel every week) but also concerned about provacy...

TC itself does not cause ANY network traffic, that you dont know about. Please list the plugins you are using.

What are you doing when you get the lockup? Maybe use the right click menu? Context menu extensions like the one from Norton Antivirus are known to connect to the internet and check for updates when opening the context menu.
