[Beta] Strings from content plugins not translated in mrt

Post by *Lefteous »

I just released a tiny plug-in which provides date names of file dates:
http://www.lefteous.de/tc/archives/datenames/datenames_1.00_beta_1.zip

The user gbo has translated the plug-in to French and noticed that the strings are translated fine in custom columns (I tested this successfully with thumbnails and the search). It doesn't work in multi rename tool.

The plug-in uses multiple choice as return type. Maybe simple strings are also affected. I haven't tested this with simple strings.

I'm sorry, the multi-rename tool can currently only translate plugin field names, not plugin contents.

But why does it work for example in custom column view?

Because it's implemented there. If I change it now in the MRT, it may break many user's auto-rename settings because additional files suddenly get other (translated) names...

I really don't think _anyone_ likes non-translated strings there.
If you really think someone prefers the English string just introduce a simple ini file switch. If need be first in TC 7.0.

I agree, and the few who don't agree don't use translated strings. :)

I agree that the translated string would probably be better. It's just problematic to change it in a small bugfix version because it could introduce all kinds of new problems, like strings containing invalid characters and the above-mentioned inconsistency...
