[BUG] TC 6.55: CTRL+B and Multi-rename simultaneously

Post by *wanderer »

1. Press CTRL+B in a folder containing subfolders with files in them.
2. Select all of them and press CTRL+M (multi-rename tool)
3. Do any renaming you wish. It is performed just fine.
4. Press F5 to reload the files.
5. Try to do another renaming. You will get a message saying all files could not be renamed. :shock:

Apparently, when F5 is pressed, multi-renamer looses the paths of the files.

Normally using latest TC on:
x32: WinXPx32 SP3
x64: Clients/Servers from Win7 to Win11 and Win2K12Srv to Win2K22Srv, mainly Win10 though.

Too bad we didn't catch that before the 6.55 release. Hopefully there will be a 6.56 (or 7.00 ;) ) soon.

F5=Refresh inside TC?

Obviously you have remapped at least some of TC's default key mappings? - Right?!

Default would be:
F5=Copy
Ctrl+R or F2=Refresh

P.S.:
Have sequences of renaming operations worked correctly inside branchview ever before?

F5 is standard shortcut for reload in MRT, don't close it after the first rename...
I think you are somewhere else right now. ;)

Oh, I see, TC is being inconsistent I guess: either the default is ctrl+r (or f2) everywhere or it is not a default. :shock:

Yep, that's one of the problems with TC: too many hardcoded shortcuts where consistence should be number one priority.

Also F2 for opening that save list is very ugly for me, 'cause I have indeed reassigned F2 to the Windows standard for renaming.

I have made a request a while ago to get rid of all these hardcoded shortcuts a while ago, without answer unfortunately.

Thanks, I will add it to my to do list for TC7. Indeed TC only remembers the names of the files in this case, not their path.
