Total Commander can unpack such archives without any problems, as your note says. There is no information about browsing them ;)

It was proposed in the past to show the content of such archives but it is still not implemented.

Don't enter the archive. Just select it and press Unpack (Alt+F9).

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

I dunno if 'encrypted file names' means the same as having a rar-file needing a password.

I have no external tools for handling the RAR format, so after unpacking such a file, it shows empty.
But when I used the 7-ZIP plugin as unpacker, everything went ok.

You can't. Why not use the built-in RAR unpacker?

Sometimes it is nice to know what is in the RAR file without having to unpack it first.
chmod a+x /bin/laden -- Allows anyone the permission to execute /bin/laden

How do I un-overwrite all my data?

Agree. As Alt+F9 works, accessing the encrypted names seems to be no problem.
Maybe if TC gets an empty file list after opening such an archive, it could ask for the password, then reread the file list inside?

Not quite - normal encryption is just applied to the content of the packed files. RAR has an additional feature of also encrypting (hiding) the included file names.
Who the hell is General Failure, and why is he reading my disk?

Can I do it with TC's built-in RAR packer?

There is no built-in RAR packer. You can try to use this feature via the RAR command line, or winrar.ini.
