I can still reproduce the problem in beta 9

So can I - The active (locked) tab always follow the rule set in Auto Switch Mode when TC is opened, in stead of keeping the manually set View mode.

Now that manually set view modes are no longer changed until a folder has been entered that leads to auto-switch of the view mode the locked tab behavior concerning view modes should be reconsidered.

Is this something that still makes sense or does it only increase complexity?

Since you can't change directories in a locked tab (no directory changes allowed), there is no added complexity/no difference.

I was referring to 'locked but dir changes allowed' tabs.

Hmm, they should not behave differently from normal tabs when you set a view mode.

It seems the new behavior for manually set view modes has overruled the old locked tab with dir changes allowed behavior. Makes sense
