2Mr.lee

Could you please add LZMA2 support in next coming version?

There are more and more 7z archives, which downloaded from internet, can not open using 7Zip Plugin. I guess it should be the reason of lacking of LZMA2 support.

Thanks so much!

I'm using 0.6.4, but even use the newest 0.7.6.3, it still can not open the archive correctly.

Here is a sample file:

Below is software download page from softpedia:
http://www.softpedia.com/dyn-postdownload.php?p=177663&t=0&i=1

Below is the same file for alternate download if above link not work:
http://www.ziddu.com/download/15405685/theworld_chrome_4.0.3.310.exe.html

After you get the file, press ctrl+pagedown to enter it, you will see chrome.7z,
ctrl+pagedown again to enter chrome.7z, will see a folder "Chrome-bin\",
drag this folder to anywhere you like, and TC & 7zip plugin will start to extract,
when extract to 98%,
TC will be frozen, you will have to kill TC using windows task manager.

Thus situation exists for many months.
But, if you use Total7zip to do the same operations, everything is OK.

yes, exact 98%,
TC will be frozen
Not confirm!
All unpacked correctly without freezing TC
I'm using 0.7.6.3

Here is a flash demostration showing all my situations.

http://www.ziddu.com/download/15408162/TCFrozed.swf.html

Download this demo and drag this .swf format file to any browser, you will see it if you have already installed flash plugin for your browser.
BTW, the TC in this demo is 100% clean without any plugins or tools inside.
And, use total7zip plugin or winrar program or 7zip program to extract this file are all OK.

7zip plugin cannot unpack files that require >2GB for decompression.

Anyway, TC can't use more than 2 GB of memory since it is 32-bit application. So, plugin can't use such ammount of memory.

you have a 64bit problem, tc is a 32bit app it can't handle archives created with dictionaries larger then 64M (LZMA or LZMA2) which is the max for 32 7-zip, you can try and use multiarc with 64bit 7za or total7-zip with 64 7zG, I haven't tried (I use a 32bit OS) but a question? can multiarc handle 64bit console applications, anyone tried?

Total7zip uses only DLL (32-bit DLL since it is 32-bit) to browse/unpack archives, so it won't help here. Multiarc should be able to start 64-bit console apps, just need to specify correct path.

if Tcmd was compiled with large address aware set in the build options, it could take advtange of 4GB on 64bit systems.

It wasn't. :) You may use any PE tool to check it (e.g. FileInfo plugin). As I see, header flags should contain 0x20 bit for LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE flag.

Thanks for all to replay and help test, the TC freezing occurs not every time.
I am using win7 32bit, now I switched to xp 32bit, the things got better: extract 6 times only 1 freezing. Then I switched to win7 64 bit, it's better more: the TC freezing appeared in the 8th extraction.

Any one, who want to help to test, please download & watch my flash video demonstration first. There are 3 samples inside it which shows TC was frozen at the very beginning, at the 99%, and at the 45%.
I am not sure what's the matter with my 7zip plugins, maybe you can find something from this video demo.

I have now tried to do exactly as it is shown in your flash video.

1. I installed a new version of TC in C:\TCTest
2. I set it up to have the same elements shown as your TC
3. I install wcx_7zip_0.7.6.3.bin.zip from https://sites.google.com/site/dlleetw/7zip/wcx_7zip_0.7.6.3.bin.zip?attredirects=0&d=1
4. I open the world_chrome_4.0.3.310.exe from http://www.softpedia.com/dyn-postdownload.php?p=177663&t=0&i=1 by pressing Ctrl+PgDn
5. I open chrome.7z inside the archive
6. I make new dir C:\aaa
7. I drag Chrome-bin to C:\aaa in opposite panel
8. I get the Packer setup dialog (because it is the first time unpacking) - I click OK and confirm that I want to unpack to c:\aaa
9. The folder gets unpacked - I go into C:\aaa and see that the files are there.
10. I make a new folder C:\bbb
11. I open the C:\bbb folder
12. I drag Chrome-bin into the open folder C:\bbb in the opposite panel
13. The files gets unpacked with no problems in a few seconds.

I try step 12 and 13 10 times in a row without problems.

I have tried this both on Windows XP SP3 32bit and Windows 7 SP1 64bit.

I noticed that your TC uses _tc4, _tc5, _tc6, and _tc7 folders for temporary unpacking chrome.7z (new dir every time TC fails) - You should try and delete everything in your temp dir (C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Temp) and see if that helps.

I have my temp dir at F:\temp, but I can't see why that should make any difference.

I also noticed that the title of your TC window is "ET" - are you running any tweaks with your TC - like TWinkey.

Is the flash movie showing real time - unpacking etc. seems very slow compared to my 6 years old Pentium 4 machine.

Thanks petermad, you are so patient, all the folder names and TC configurations are random, you need not to do them exactly as the demo.
petermad wrote:TC window is "ET"
Yes, TC window shows ET, just because I used a tweak to hide user name ONLY IN THIS VIDEO, I never use it in routine work.
petermad wrote:Is the flash movie showing real time - unpacking etc. seems very slow
Yes, it's the real time, it should be due to the screen recorder, it cost much system resources when recording.

Thus freezing situation exist for long time, not from now. Every time when I met this, I use windows task manager to terminate TC, then use 7-Zip program to extract it.
Finally, total7zip plugin born, now I am using total7zip. Total7zip is OK for it.

Sorry for wasting your time, I have to say: from your test conclusion including other kindly people's, I'm confused completely now, I will have to keep trying & watching.
Once find solutions I will post it in this thread.
Thanks again.
