BUG: TC exits on "specially" crafted URL

Post by *advantis »

I was using shareware version 6.53 when I found this issue, so I updated to shareware version 6.54a, and it's still present.

Try it yourself:
1. Press Control+N in TC
2. Paste this URL: http://192.18.108.147/ECom/EComTicketServlet/BEGIN51060770A4966CE2DC0BD7178E98B22A/-2147483648/1495716219/1/701150/701102/1495716219/2ts+/westCoastFSEND/jd ... _0-win.exe (Java SE link from the Sun site)
3. Press Enter
4. Press Enter again
5. wait a sec and you will get an "Access Denied" message
6. Press Enter and TC will mysteriously exit.

Not confirmed. Windows 98 and TC 6.54a.
I get the error message "Error downloading file!". TC does not exit.

Not confirmed here too. Windows 2000 SP4 and TC 6.54a.
I get the error message "Error downloading file!" and TC does not exit, just as in Windows 98.

Could it be that the imcriminated URL redirects to a HTTPS url which requires logon to proceed? Try it in Internet Explorer, and you'll see what I mean.

What about the URL? I know it starts with 192, but doesn't continue with 168... so that part doesn't hold water. Anything else?

Not confirmed under WinXP SP1 Lite, TC 6.53 and no net filters or antiviruses.

"Error downloading file" when the secure connection should be established.

Try it with TC6.54a so that if the bug appears then Ghisler may compare code.

The behavior was the same in 6.54a. I used “download from list” function, because simply pasting the URL in command line started my web browser (Opera).

It's very probable a XP SP2 related bug, again.
