[BUG] Unicode-named folders show wrong tab names

Post by *Flint »

When I enter into some folder that has name with Unicode symbols from non-Russian codepage (I have Russian Windows locale), the name of the folder tab (and also the current path in the panel header) contains the DOS-name of the folder.

I think, Ghisler did Unicode support only in filelist component. But not in TPanel (second selection on screenshot) or TPageControl (first selection) components.

So, this is not a bug.

Ok, let's name it as a misfeature. :D As TC is supposed to work with Unicode named folders, it should work with them in all components.
Of course, I know about limitations of current version, as well as about planned full Unicode support in the future (after 7.0), but if this problem can be easily solved, it should be solved, I think.

Well, I don't think it can be easily solved. Making Unicode version of a component is not so easy...

That's why I wrote IF. :)

Paths stored in various places including wincmd.ini and tabs are ANSI only (non-unicode). TC therefore uses the short dos 8.3 name when accessing Unicode paths. A conversion to Unicode is planned for TC8, but this will require that a lot of TC will be rewritten, so it cannot be added over night.

Ok, I see. This bug is really not a big problem.
