|
|
To reproduce bugs it is often necessary to repeat the exact steps you made when you experienced the bug. The best way is to record a short screen capture video.
- Get CamStudio or any other screen recording software.
- Set it to use the Microsoft Video 1 codec. It produces huge videos but they are highly compressible (to 0.1% - 1% of their original size).
- Get the Total SQX packer plugin. It features a multimedia compression mode that enables such high ratios. Alternatively you can use the 7-Zip packer plugin or WinRAR. Do not use ZIP, as it doesn't offer the necessary multimedia mode.
- Upload the video somewhere, for instance create an account on DriveHQ and put the compressed video in the wwwhome directory.
Thank you

This is a very good idea (some testers used this in the private alpha test already). However, to avoid that the forum is flooded with videos, please use this method only if I and/or other users have troubles to reproduce a problem.
Much more important would be a short step by step description of what you are doing, something which cannot be seen in a video (e.g. was a shortcut key used, and if yes, which one)... _________________ Author of Total Commander

Good idea.
But why not enable forum attachment function?
Then we can report problem and upload an animation GIF file as good as a video.
You know , I prefer Camtasia Studio to other video producers.
Camtasia Studio is a tool of techsmith.com. _________________ -= Total Commander Loyal Fan. =- |

Good evening,
• Please, at least could you enable the [ img ] feature for the ß-sections here ?
-Even with a size limit ?
- It should be helpful in the most cases.
- Then we can make a video if really needed (I use DemoStudio, all in French )

You can use [ img ] already, but it will work as a link. I don't want to tear apart the user interface with 3000x2000 pixel screenshots. _________________ Author of Total Commander

Good evening,

• I knew, but this is not helpful.

• Indeed, so it's the reason for which I proposed a size limitation. The most needed pics for discussions and bugs reports are not large, i. e. a small dialogue or so… Even simply an icon sometimes !
- A maximum like W= 700 - H = 1000 seems fit all needs, and it's not disturbing while browsing the topics. The most boring is of course the H. scroll-bar in a browser, but with such a dimension we don't get it (with 1024*768, very ususal)

Maybe the Mod Simple Image Resize could help.

Hello !
• Thanks, that could help really.
- Just an accuracy : the images might be saved as PNG, not JPG because it's already blurry for text on.
- And it's worse when resized…

well, why not put the pix or vidz on your own webspace and post the link with it.
Im pretty sure almost everyone has some free webspace somewhere.. even ISP's give out free webspace with your account.
And if you cant upload files to webspace, you shouldnt be using TC in the 1st place! |

Hello !
| Quote: | …Im pretty sure almost everyone has some free webspace somewhere..
even ISP's give out free webspace with your account. … | • Sorry, I've missed your message some months ago…
• Indeed, I do so, I've 770 files (mainly captures) @ two hosts of mine, especially for TC and also for XnView…
- I keep all images linked in my messages for four years… I just removed some packed videos¦big images
that became useless after the issue has been fixed up. But generally, I keep them @ home in their local folders.
- It should be very useful that the Author finally allows images in the messages -like this is in the most fora-
according to the size criteria I proposed above… So :
BUMP !
Kind regards,
Claude
