Is this a bug in TC v6.53?

Post by *Toxter »

Hello all,
This is my first post here.
I found something strange in TC 6.53.
While I was trying to backup my Eclipse installation I've got an error
saying that some of the files cannot be read.
Path to one of this files is following (all are in this folder):
D:\btosic\eclipse-SDK-3.2.1-win32\eclipse\plugins\org.eclipse.jst.jsf_sdk.feature.source_0.5.1.v20060829-OJnpNuKYI7O7SAU\src\org.eclipse.jst.jsf.context.symbol_0.5.0.v20060829\src\org\eclipse\jst\jsf\context\symbol\internal\provider\IBeanInstanceSymbolItemProvider.java

As you can see, the path is 270 chars long.
Positioning to this file in TC, and hitting F3 or trying to open the file with double click, resulted with popup message 'File Not Found'.
While positioning with Windows Explorer and double clicking on file, resulted with normal opening of it.

Is this a bug in TC? Is a path to long for TC to manipulate with file?
(Maybe this is fixed in newer version).

Thanks, and sorry for the long post.

I apologize, not even Windows Explorer can open the file
(instead I copied parent folder 'provider' to desktop and opened file than).

I guess than WinXp has some limitation on file path length (maybe 256).

Regards.

Normally using latest TC on:
x32: WinXPx32 SP3
x64: Clients/Servers from Win7 to Win11 and Win2K12Srv to Win2K22Srv, mainly Win10 though.
