It would be great if someone who had some free time could scour this thread for all of the programs and links and put them all in one post (or separate thread) so it would be easy to see the suggestions without having to weed through 27 pages.

I'd do it, but I'm swamped as it is!

Hello,

Maybe you can help me with this: I'm looking for an editor to use with Thunderbird which should have the following features:

- Add "| " (for external quotes) at the begin of each lign of marked text (or clipboard)
- Drag and drop of marked text

Thanks!

CLCL can do this with the Utils plugin, and
AutoHotkey also. This latter one is very intelligent, it even wraps the text into predefined length!

Thank you, the script posted in the AutoHotkey forum works fine. :-)

Can you think of an elegant way to start (and close) the script from Thunderbird?

I dont use Thunderbird, nor the script, but application specific hotkeys are easy to define in AutoHotkey, for example:

Code: Select all

; Ctrl-G
~^g::
if not WinActive( "ahk_class THUNDERBIRD" )
   Return
The ~ ensures, that the hotkey is not swallowed by AHK. Replace the THUNDERBIRD by ther real window class, or simply by the title text (without "ahk_class").

2SanskritFritz:

Well, I suppose you have all the AutoHotkey scripts you may need running permanently. What I would like to do is start the script only when I need it. I.e. with the start of TB the script starts, when I close TB the script closes and AutoHotkey with it. Sorry if this sounds stupid. (I guess a simple desktop link would be easiest...)

BTW: give me a kick if this is way OT.
