I've worked with WE for many years and get use to it.
In WE, you can drag and drop files into a folder(move).
however in TC, drag and drop means copy.
how can I configure TC to move files by "drag and drop"?
2nd question:
In WE, you can select files / folders by drawing a square and all files/folders inside are selected/highlighted.
Can I do this in TC?

Ad.1. Use drag with ALT (or Shift), Luke
Or press RMB before releasing LMB or drag using RMB and Shift.
Ad.2. Go to Configuration -> Operation -> Mouse selection mode -> Left mouse button (Windows standard)
Or press RMB before releasing LMB or drag using RMB and Shift.

ad. 2 doesn't. I still cannot draw a rectangular and select files inside. I think this is very handy function.

No, you cannot. Discussed here.In WE, you can select files / folders by drawing a square and all files/folders inside are selected/highlighted.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

This is only true in Explorer, if source an target is on the same disk/partition.acolyte wrote:In WE, you can drag and drop files into a folder(move).
Drag&Drop from one drive to another (in Windows Explorer) copies the files too.
Rather inconsistent behavior of windows explorer, which can lead to some unexpected results

OK, that's very clear.HolgerK wrote:This is only true in Explorer, if source an target is on the same disk/partition.acolyte wrote:In WE, you can drag and drop files into a folder(move).

But, wouldn't it be much better if users can select files by making a rectangular?
Re: Move files into folder by "drag and drop" | se
Don't ask me, I am using primary the keyboard to do such tasks (keyboard repetition rate set to highest value, delay set to lowest delay, or using filemask with <+>).acolyte wrote:But, wouldn't it be much better if users can select files by making a rectangular?
TC's RMB selection mode is different than Explorer.
And imho better than the destructive mouse rectangular selection used by Explorer.
Try to mark two separated blocks of files using Explorer (don't touch the keyboard)
Try it out, and do the same with TC's right mouse button selection setting.
For me, the only argument for the rectangular selection is, that it's very popular (not for old TC-Users ) and a widely used / well known operation method.
Kind regards,
Holger
