ActiveSnapView Plugin Available

Post by *JohnFredC »

ActiveSnapView 1.0
Released 12/29/2003

ActiveSnapView is a lister plugin (WLX) for Total Commander V5.5 or greater. It allows the user to preview a Microsoft Snapshot file (*.snp) in either the TC QuickView panel or in the floating TC lister window and with all of the utility provided by the standalone Microsoft Snapshot Viewer.

Microsoft Snapshot files are encapsulated print-previews of Microsoft Access reports, suitable for email.

NOTE: The Microsoft Snapshot Viewer must be installed on your system in order for the plugin to work.

• The readme.txt file included in the zip archive should answer most of your questions.

• MaxWish is kindly hosting the download at http://www.clubtotal.tk/.

It's a pity I have to install the viewer even if I have a full Ms Access :-(

Hi djk

If you already can create snapshots from Access reports, there is no need to reinstall the Microsoft product in order to use ActiveSnapView.

Trying to install the plugin I get info:
"Error loadin plugin file!
The plugin probably needs some DLLsmissing on your system"
What can it be?
I work on WinXP Pro, MsAccess XP (I've even installed Snapshotviewer - ver.10) and... nothing. Still the same error.

Hi DJK

I may have found the problem.

Can you please view the ActiveSnapView.wlx file in the FileInfo lister and look on the second tab (DLL Dependencies)?

The missing DLL will be flagged there. If you see a missing DLL, please respond with the name of the missing DLL. That would really help me.

Thanks for your help and patience with this. I tested, but apparently not thoroughly enough.

There is one: borlndmm.dll.
As I know there are no programs without bugs, so... :-)
BTW: Testing has been a part of my job for many years. ;-)

Yep. That is the one. I have dinner with my wife tonight and will work on it tomorrow.

Sorry for the problem. It is embarrassing.

Thanks for your help!

It works ok, now ;-)

Some suggestions:

- I can't get to context menu using keyboard context menu key - I can do it only with a mouse :-(
- It would be nice to have some shortcuts keys (zoom in/out, next/previous page, etc).
- It would be good if there was an option to save default view, I mean I prefer "Zoom to width" view and I'd like it always started this way.
- When you click on the text to zoom it you can't use ESC to close the lister anymore.
- When you press Print icon and then Esc there is an info that operation was cancelled - I don't need additional info, I just know what I did :-)
- In readme and in .exe file there is still 1.00 version instead of 1.01 :-)

Anyway, nice plugin thanks.

Hi djk

I can probably address your requests. Thanks for making them. I'll let you know when a new version is available! I'm still learning.

(I was late for my dinner!)

Thanks for testing my plugin so completely!
