|
|
Hi all,
I love Total Commander for the Pocket PC... it's an amazing product, and I'm glad to be using it!
I wonder whether anyone's written a plugin for accessing an SFTP server? I know there are standalone SFTP clients for the PocketPC, but I'd love it if one could be simply integrated to this great product.
Thanks,
Jon "The Nice Guy" |

I'm not aware of any, sorry. Since I haven't officially published the programming interface for plugins, there is little chance for such a plugin. _________________ Author of Total Commander

Hi Mr Ghisler,
Thanks for getting back to me. Are there any plans to release the programming interface? If not, that's fine - it's still an amazing product, but if so, then I can't wait
Thanks,
Jon |

The interface is the same as for the PC, but with Unicode parameters everywhere where text strings are used... _________________ Author of Total Commander

It seems to me that the developer of the sftp-plugin for TC-win32 is interested to give TC-Pocket a try.

The SFTP plugin for the PC is still under heavy development, so it will take a while until it's done and I can port it to the PocketPC. The internal ftp client will support FTPS (ftp over ssl) soon now, I already managed to compile the OpenSSL dlls for Windows Mobile. It's probably easier to tell your provider to enable FTPS than to write and SFTP plugin yourself... _________________ Author of Total Commander

Thanks loads for a really excellent program - I think I've used it all the time I've had a win phone. Might be almost the most frequent program I use other than pim.
Sftp would really make it off the scale.
Please, please. please give it another try to do sftp/scp!
ssh is always built into a linux box and very easy to put on windows so I use it very often for remote access and even creating more secure email links (if only pocketputty worked properly..).
It would mean could get simple browsable file access without having to set up another serving program on each server/pc and open extra ports - very handy! |

The problem is that I would also have to port the OpenSSH libraries to Windows Mobile. Can't you use ftps? Almost all ftp servers support this encryption method now. _________________ Author of Total Commander
