ftp connect call failed

Post by *ohgodimlame »

i searched but i couldnt find anything that covered this problem

i am running xp x64 sp2 and i am not able to connect to any ftp from this computer

i am able to use other computers to connect so i know it isnt a problem on the network

there is some glitch with the windows firewall that disables the use of the ftp but when turned off i can use the cmd line ftp program that comes with windows to connect to any ftp

but when i go to tc 7.01 i always get connect call failed

any help will be greatly appriciated

:) Hello ! Welcome aboard !

• Try to tick the box Use passive mode on the connection dialogue.

- If it doesn't help, please set a log-file (Options >> F T P) and report a failed connection here.

:mrgreen: Kind regards,
Claude

:) Hello !

• Hm… Please, have you really this host name with spaces and no dot ?
hostname=ftp wearerockstars com
- Normally, it might be rather either :
or :
hostname=wearerockstars.com
which is sufficient with the TC F T P client…

- Then, this doesn't match the indications we have usually in the (full) log-file, many are missing.
- I guess it's a bit too short…
- I guess too that you might check whether this server could have “exotic” definition-strings…
- And also, the Author here could get a better clue if he could test himself directly…

Total Commander cannot even connect to the server, so the active/passive mode problem cannot occur yet.

It seems that some kind of firewall blocking any kind of Internet access by Total Commander.

I think it was actually caused by the virus that you were scanning for and that's why it worked when the scan stopped because it probably removed it.

I had the same problem but Norton didn't remove the trojan horse (Spyeye Trojan Horse) and I still got the "connect call failed" error after the scan was finished so it wasn't the scan in my case at least. When I managed to remove the virus with MalwareBytes I was able to connect with Total Commander again. For some reason it didn't affect other FTP clients like FileZilla which is strange.
