Have I been scammed - U will get your key file in 24-48 hrs?

Post by *chrismarshall »

I'm a little concerned that I may have been scammed by this website. Is this the real Total Commander site or have I just been conned out of my money.

When I joined this forum I was activated immediately, but when I purchased Total Commander I received a message from Take Two solutions saying "You will receive your Total Commander key file within 24-48 hours"

WTF, have I just been conned? In all the years I've ordered software online, this is the first time I've heard of a 48 hour waiting period for a key code?

Since we're not living in the dark ages, I'm wondering if I've just been scammed and whether or not I should reverse the payment just in case. Even before the internet was launched, when we were still on Bulletin Board Systems, the turnaround time for shareware orders wasn't 48 hours ... so what gives?

If this is real, please let me know as soon as possible, i'm really concerned here and on the verge of reversing this payment.

Thanks, i think ?!

It takes some time. And you should receive the CD with a printed manual as well... Its a bit different with Totalcommander - but hey: you can use the software with out the key. Just leave it open and you dont have to click the nag screen all the time...

Thanks seb, I know you can use it in nagware mode, but I was a little concerned because there's so many bogus scam sites around that you have to be careful to make sure you're not conned.

Because this is the first time I have encountered an 'oldschool' ordering service like this, I needed to be certain it wasn't a scam. Thanks for letting me know.

I'm pretty sure that you will get your key, just give Christian some time. Every key file is sent out manually and processed by hand so that's why it should take 2-3 business days to receive the key. Most likely that Christian is busy right now. He sends out keys daily I guess, and most likely the ones who purchased before you will get their keys sooner.
Christian also has to reply to support emails also, and fix bugs, and check the forum. :D

Thanks sztihamer, I'm starting to get it now (I replied to your other note also). I didn't realise Christian did it all on his own - the order confirmation mentioned that the Developers would get back to me, so I ass-u-me-d that there were more people involved. Thanks for the help and advice.

The only developer of Total Commander is Mr. Ghisler. So technically you are correct. His brother also helps him a lot by managing the company, I guess paperwork and other things. Just don't worry you will get your personalized wincmd.key file sooner or later. It's just a matter of time.

Definitely not scammed, more like the other way around. You bought good software at a good price ;) (try to compare with other file managers' lifetime licenses)

Do post back when you receive your key :)

Unfortunately we have to create all keys manually because there is just too much fraud - users who use stolen credit cards or even stolen Paypal accounts to order keys. It's often quite simple to detect such fraud, but not always...
