Total Commander 8.0 32 bit 2012-05-23
Licence: 211743
Windows XP Professional

I'm trying to connect with the TC FTP client to a server in my orgs network. While I can with other FTP clients I can not with TC.

I've tried with a ":21" added to the host name and not.
I've also toggled passive mode on and off.
The server is on a Solaris box.
I am able to connect to similar boxes in my orgs network.

Below is my FTP log. The error messages looked very generic when I Googled them. If there is a way to get more debugging information let me know.

Thanks much in advance for any help

Steve

This is probably nothing, but is there really a space in front of the hostname, or was that just something you added by mistake when replacing it with asterisks?

WSAECONNRESET - 10054 - Connection reset by peer.
An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. This normally results if the peer application on the remote host is suddenly stopped, the host is rebooted, the host or remote network interface is disabled, or the remote host uses a hard close (see setsockopt for more information on the SO_LINGER option on the remote socket). This error may also result if a connection was broken due to keep-alive activity detecting a failure while one or more operations are in progress. Operations that were in progress fail with WSAENETRESET. Subsequent operations fail with WSAECONNRESET.

tinker123,
Hmm, perhaps an overzealous firewall or IPS?

Aezay,
Hey, nice to see you again. Smile

Roman, another FTP client ( Hummingbird ) works with the same credentials.

Yes, that's why I suggested it might be a firewall.

Hi Roman;

I think you are replying over my head. My understanding is that a firewall would be implemented by my networking people and would block all clients from my computer, not just Total Commander. Please tell me if I am wrong.

I found out that the new server does not support FTP, only SFTP

I installed the plugin for that and opened up another thread about issues I am having with it.

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply

Steve

tinker123,
I assumed there might be some corporate FW on your computer which would block any unknown programs, like TC.
