Hi,
What do I have to do to connect to my account? My username is "thehacker", the POP3 server is "mail.host.sk".

My fsplugin.ini contains:

Code: Select all

[POP3/SMTP EmailPlugin - POP3 Connections]
thehacker@host.sk=thehacker@mail.host.sk
[POP3/SMTP EmailPlugin - Settings]
FileExtension=.txt
APOPAuthentication=0
F8DeletesConnection=1
ShowAddConnectionsLnk=1
ShowEditConnectionsLnk=1
SubjectLength=40
AddressLength=30
RetrieveLines=-1
SMTPServer=smtp.domain.com
I always get this:
CONNECT \thehacker@host.sk
Socket Error # 11001
Host not found.

TIA
Roman

@Hacker it looks like you did not add your password.
it must look like this:

Title=thehacker:EncodedPwd(XXXXXXXXXXXX)@smtp.yourprovider.com
or @pop3.yourprovider.com

I use eml as extension and decode it with TC internal command decode.
So Outlookexpress is not necessary.This separates also some attachment.

As far as I understand the plugin should ask me for the password the first time I am connecting. And I don't know the encryption scheme for EncodedPwd anyways. I also tried saving a plaintext password in the file, didn't work either.

TIA

nope ,i just test it,

use add new connection ,choose a title,then use the wizard on the right side.
you have to fill in host ,name ,password port (Normally 110).

but you are right ,this should be implemented for security reason,although the pw is encrypted after installation.

Otherwise use Quickconnection.

you have to close the plug one time to see the new connection

use the wizard

Thanks for pointing this out. Didn't know I had to press the button to the right. (Why doesn't the plugin show you this automatically or ask you why you didn't enter anything...?)

you have to close the plug one time to see the new connection

F2 is enough.

Thank you
Roman

If you do not enter a password then you will be asked for it the first time you try to open the mailbox. It is possible to enter and save passwords in plain text but if you enter passwords through the dialogs then they will be encoded automatically (for security reasons)...

secure pop3 and secure smtp

Post by *teqno »

It would help me a lot if it had support for secure pop3 and secure smtp.

Secure pop3/smtp is currently not supported. If I have the time then I will try to add it in one of the next versions...

btw, i just found out, that the properties-title of your pop3-plugin states the versionnumber 1.1, when it's actually 1.2.

sorry, but that's the only "bug" i can report to you :lol:

How do I please download attachments using your plugin / how do I process them? For instance I got a mail like this:

Well, I don't think it's easy possible. Probably the only way is to press ENTER on the mail to open it with your default mail program :-(

Hey, that's a great idea! Thanks, haven't thought of that, had the extension set to TXT.

Thanks

As djk already said - it is not so easy but it is possible and sometimes really useful - for instance if there is no maiclient installed on your PC:

Copy the part with the attachment:

Code: Select all

Content-Type: application/x-zip-compressed; name="pack.zip"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-Description: pack.zip
Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="pack.zip"

UEsDBBQAAgAIAOej1i5cuetQBR0AAGYsCAAMAAAAdW50aXRsZWQuYm1w7d0x
lus6doXhai8Hjhx7CA4cOPIAnHsaHscdkcegwANS/oJydbd9rSYJ8AAESQD8

...

AAB1bnRpdGxlZC5ibXBQSwUGAAAAAAEAAQA6AAAALx0AAAAA
in a newly created file and save it as "filename.b64" (the b64 extension stands for the encoding - your attachment was base64 encoded). Now you only need to double click on this file and TC will decode the file with its internal base64 decoder... That's it!
