-missing items in TC 8.50beta3 context menus

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

-missing items in TC 8.50beta3 context menus

Post by *msiivola »

Two most important Norton Internet Security options are visible in 64bit Windows 8 File Explorer's context menu, but missing in both 32&64bit TC 8.50beta3 context menus: Scan Now and File Insight. This makes virus checking burdensome.

Try renaming totalcmd.exe to explorer.exe. Does it work now?

No, it does not work with 32bit TC, i.e. Totalcmd.exe

...but it DOES work when I rename 64bit, i.e. TOTALCMD64.EXE, to explorer.exe.

Can this be used as a permanent solution?

Looks like the problem in your too paranoic Norton, not in TC.

Yes TC should work just fine when renamed to explorer.exe. The missing 32-bit menu items mean that Norton has only 64-bit shell extensions installed.

What's about x64 shell (AFAIK, TCMDX64.EXE)?
It should work.

TCMDX64.EXE is only needed to show 64-bit extensions in 32-bit TC. You don't need it for 64-bit TC. It will probably not show the Norton extensions in 32-bit TC because it's not called explorer.exe.
