How to undo last action in TC? [Not implemented yet]

Post by *HAL 9000 »

How to undo last action in TC?
The universal undo hotkey CTRL+Z is occupied in TC for something else. But the problem is not in the hotkey (after all - they are remappable), but in the lack of "undo" action: I've searched whole TC looking for that command, but didn't find it.

Wtf? That's a must have action, even phony Windows' Explorer has it.

No, there is no undo in TC, at least on a global scale

Currently only multi-rename can be undone, because it never overwrites any files. It's als possible to undo deleting to recycle bin by right clicking on the Windows desktop and choosing the "Undo..." menu item. Other operations cannot be undone because it cannot be guaranteed that it will work (e.g. when files were overwritten).

Moving a file without overwriting should be undoable too, as well as the undeleting right within from TC.
I mean, it's very sad that TC lacks these pretty basic features, I thought it's an advanced file manager (if not even very advanced), but turns out I was wrong.

Can you give us an example what Windows Explorer can undo, and needs to be done in Total Commander?

Moving a file/dir (without overwriting).
Copying a file/dir.
Renaming a file/dir.
Restoring a deleted file/dir.

HAL 9000,
You are a registered member of the forum for more than six years with almost 300 posts and after all these years in which you have never needed the undo function you now need it and are suprised that there isn't one and suddenly realize TC is not an advanced file manager? Come on.
I mean I am all for everyone having their opinion, it just sounds as if Lefteous would say, oh, a WDX plugin function which I need just now is not implemented, TC must not be an advanced file manager. Srsly.

That's not a problem as long as it isn't used by spammers - then it will be blocked.

undo function necessary

Post by *eumovate »

I hope the undo function might be implemented some time in the future.
There are times when undo function is really necessary, eg like when you accidently moved a file into a folder and you do not know what is that file and folder.
