LAN plugin doesn't work

It doesn't want to connect no matter what I try. The pc is perfectly reachable by other pc's. There's no firewall between it and the wi-fi. Everything indicates that it should work.

I tried connecting to `netbiosname/share`, `netbiosname`, `ipaddress/share`, `ipaddress` and none of them work. I re-typed my password, just to make sure, but it keeps failing.

I don't understand why it doesn't work. It has always worked fine, but I can't test with another pc atm.

Could you check whether 192.168.1.45 is the correct IP address of your PC?

It is, but now that I'm digging a little deeper, I can't ping my pc (from my phone). Not a good sign.

Yeah, it was the firewall all along. Which is weird, because I wasn't having connectivity problem from other pc's... Fixed it. Working perfectly now.

Perhaps it's a good idea to make these error messages more descriptive.

Well, I'm not sure if this is related, but I'm getting a log of "error writing to target file!" for no good reason. Wi-Fi connection is stable, pc at the other end is rock solid.

Can TC at least try again before displaying a (again) generic error message?

And a very long cryptic "Error connecting to server" message. (so you *can* be verbose). But try again and it works beautifully.

This is why software (software in general, which includes TC ) should ALWAYS try again before distracting the user with an error message.

That's odd - when you get this, can you check the target file, please?
- has it been created at all?
- if yes, does it have the right size?
- if yes, is it complete, or only partially copied?

If this file isn't there or only partially, then it was probably a data transmission error, which could still be related to the firewall blocking some of the packets.
