9.0RC1-Dialog «Find Files/Find Files separate process» bugs

Post by *Ovg »

1. All search settings (except use Everything ) is not saved. (x32/x64)
(LastSearchOptions is not changes in ini file) (also present in beta 17)

2. Now it is impossible to choose drive(s) to search:
http://rgho.st/8mvJnJK26 - this window with mkdir history appears instead of drive box. x64 TC 9 RC1 are affected (not present in beta 17)

Thanks for testing. It seems I have a problem with my ini file. With clean ini I have not this problem ...

I have found the source of problem - Find Files - separate process.
this is setting up in ini - bind to At+F7 key.

When I use simple Find files - setting are saved. Could anybody test/confirm this issue?

Here on my machine I can reproduce the bug on Total Commander 9.0rc1 64-bit.

On Total Commander 9.0rc1 32-bit, however, the [Drives] button seems to be functional and displays a list of the available drives.

So I cannot confirm the problem for Total Commander 9.0rc1 32-bit.

Thanks for testing!
Now after new installation of 9.0 RC1 with my work ini file I have not issue with Drives box for x86 too, but x64 still have this bug.

Could you please test saving settings from Find Files separate process?

Hello, OVG.

I cannot confirm that search parameters created and saved in Find Files - separate process are not saved.

Here search parameters which I define and save are saved, no matter whether I do so using
+ Commands => Search (Alt-F7) or
+ Commands => Search - Separate Process (Shift-Alt-F7)

Coming back from Find Files - separate process to the running T.C. main instance, the search saved in Find Files - separate process will be visible and selectable in Find files, too.

I have tested so using
+ Total Commander 9.0rc1 32-bit
+ Total Commander 9.0rc1 64-bit

Best regards,
Karl

Well, I have done more tests with new installation of beta 17 and RC1(x86 and x64) and new, clean ini without any my settings and plugins .

Code: Select all

[Configuration]
UseNewDefFont=1
SetEncoding=дц.do.not.remove
firstmnu=2810
FirstTime=0
test=146
SeparateTree=0
PanelsVertical=0
[Buttonbar]
IconDll_default.bar=
IconDll_vertical.bar=
[left]
path=c:\
ViewMode=10001
activepanelcolor=-1
activepanelcolor2=-1
ShowAllDetails=1
SpecialView=0
show=1
sortorder=0
negative Sortorder=0
[right]
path=c:\
ViewMode=10001
activepanelcolor=-1
activepanelcolor2=-1
ShowAllDetails=1
SpecialView=0
show=1
sortorder=0
negative Sortorder=0
[RightHistory]
0=c:\
[LeftHistory]
0=c:\
In all test Find Files (Alt+F7) dialog always saves settings without any problems. But Find Files separate process (Alt+Shift+F7) never saves search settings (doesn't update ini file parameter LastSearchOptions) (Search archives, and all settings for finding text in files (charsets, RegEx, etc)) ... :shock:

I have just tested both TC 0b17 and TC9rc1 in both 32bit and 64bit with a clean ini file - and here LastSearchOptions is updated every time I make a change to the search options AND run a search AND close the search dialog (TC does NOT change LastSearchOptions unless you actually start a search and close the dialog afterwards).

Tested with both Alt+F7 and Alt+Shift+F7.

Can you tell step-by step what you do to make your test.

<side note>
I see my misunderstanding:
I had thought and tested accordingly that the function [Load/Save] => [Save] search parameters did not function properly.

But you guys are actually talking about the last search parameters which will or which at least should be remembered automatically.

Sorry, have not tested those, yet.

When I do it your way I can confirm the behaviour.

Looking closer into it, I see that right after doing a search in separate process the LastSearchOptions parameter is in fact updated in wincmd.ini (that was what I had tested), but later when TC is closed the value of LastSearchOptions is reset to the value before the separate search.
This reset also occurs if I open a non-separate search AFTER the separate search (without closing TC first)

If I do a separate search and after it is done I close TC BEFORE I close the Search dialog, then LastSearchOptions is permanetly updated in wincmd.ini

I checked it in TC8.52a - and there the behaviour is the same.

I think this might be a feature rather than a bug, making it possible to perform different searches in separate process, without changing you basic setting for non-separate searches.

Thanks for testing and clarifying! I really appreciate it! Likely you are right. But what mr. Ghisler would say?
