Forums Quick Reply is missing previous functionality

Post by *petermad »

The "Quote" functiuon of the Forums Quick Reply addon doesn't work anymnore.

Also clicking on a members name no longer adds 2Membername to the Quick Reply input area.

I also just noticed that the formatting buttons here in the Editing page doesn't work anymore and clicking the emoticons also doen't work!

Maybe it has to do with the new cookie alert for this forum.

I confirm that clicking quote button and nicks do not work anymore, and there are errors in javascript, both pasteN and pasteQ functions cause an exception:

Code: Select all

TypeError: document.post.message is undefined

Quote button and nicks work fine here. Perhaps it's a question of the selected theme? I am using Cobalt.

Yes, it's related to the theme. It works in all themes but subSilver. Seems like Ghisler broke something with the recent changes to the forum.

Even if I switch to Cobalt or phpVB2 theme there is still one thing that doesn'et work as it used to:

In the "Edit Post" page - if I select some text that I have written in the text ara and then press the B, I or U etc. button I now only get the start tag at the right side of the selection, before this bug the selected text was sorrounded by the start and end tag when pressing one of the formatting buttons

Yes, it seems to work the good old way again with the SubSilver theme now :-)

This is still not solved - but maybe applying formatting tags to selected text never worked with those two themes - I have never used them before.

I didn't change anything in the Cobalt theme, so maybe it really never worked. I will check it.

The Cookie warning is only shown in the standard subSilver theme, because that's what new users will see before they log in and change the theme themselves. By that point, the warning is no longer relevant.

The problem you describe also exists in the subSilver theme: It was due to a web browser change a few years ago: When you click on a button, the text selection is now lost, so there is nothing any more to surround with [ b ] [ b ] characters.

The same problem existed with the quote command in the quick reply: Here I solved it by saving the selected text when the mouse hovered over the quote command. While I could copy the selected text in the normal reply too, I could probably not save the actual selection position.
