Loading the thumbnails from images on a NAS takes long

Post by *ackuxacky »

Creating thumbnails of or loading the thumbnails from images placed on a NAS (network drive) takes long time. The images (JPEG) have thumbnails in their EXIF. On the contrary, Loading the same directory in IrfanView is very prompt and thumbnails are displays instantly -- probably they are loaded from the EXIF directly. IMO, TC converts the images to thumbnails newly. Creating thumbnails takes longer for larger files than for small images, in my experiences. How can I speed up creating thumbnails from the images or properly loading them from the EXIf data of the files located on the network drive (NAS)?

There is currently no plugin or other extraction method which would take the preview from the EXIF data. Therefore all images have to be transferred as a whole to extract the thumbnails. But once they have been created, they should be loaded from the thumbnail database.
