IIRC, in past versions there was a config setting in the menus to allow the quick search to either filter out all non-matching files/folders, or just jump to the first directory with that letter.
I can't find that now, so I edited the wincmd.ini file
QuickSearchAutoFilter=0
Was that changed in a later build, or is my memory faulty?

Just press Ctrl+S when the quick search box is shown to turn this on/off.
And yes, it's QuickSearchAutoFilter=0:
0: Automatic quick search filter (Ctrl+S) disabled
1: Automatic quick search filter (Ctrl+S) enabled
-1:Like 0, but do not save state when closing TC (filter always disabled at startup)
2: Like 1, but do not save state either (filter always on when starting TC)

Re: Quick Search filters list of files QuickSearchAutoFilter=0
Thanks, this thread helped me fix my behavior back quickly. I press Ctlr+S after doing a quick search wondering what it does but I could not see what it does and forgot I pressed it. For a week now I could not understand why it is now filtering instead of jumping/searching.
Anyway wonderful feature the filter will be very useful from time to time and behavior is easily modified with Ctrl+S.
Shows you I have been a Commander user since early dos days and I keep discovering great new functionality, thanks for this thread.
