First you need to distribute the file MSCOMCTL.OCX with the editor - it doesn't come with Windows 98SE - or at least make a note on your website that MSCOMCTL.OCX is needed, and make it downloadable from your site.
in program home page I offer a link for a Setup program that contain all necessary files to run Editors proparly.
In the Main Menu Editor the command column is frequently truncated (narrowed) by the program itself - usually to a width that makes it completely unreadable
this is a bug occur in system use ',' "comma" as "Decimal symbol" i will fix it next release
to confirm goto Contol Panel> Regional Settings> Number and change decimal symbol to anything else comma
I would like an option to set the number of lines between each first-level menu (between END_POPUP and POPUP) and between STARTMENU and HELP_BREAK and first-level menus
Good idea i will consider it.

Sorry I didn't realize that the missing files were in there - stupid me :oops:

BTW the History Editor is missing a RecentFiles1= in the "ultra tc editors.ini" file - This leads to History Editor asking for the location of my wincmd.ini file every time it is started.

It is a bug :oops:
until i fix it please open Regedit and create this path "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE or HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ghisler\Total Commander" and then create this value "IniFileName=path_of_tc_ini_W/O_system_variable"

Nifty little program - I like it :D

One thing though. I installed (unpacked) the program into the directory where I have the other UltraTCEditor programmes, and therefore I copied the file "tc default hotkeys.hky" into the "Data Files" dir, soon to realize that it had to be in the same dir as "Hotkeys Editor.exe" - You should make the program check for the prescence of "Data Files\tc default hotkeys.hky" - and use that if "tc default hotkeys.hky" is not found i current dir.

I see, but couldn't you just let the program look in both places for the file?

Hello ts4242,

I like your TC editors very much! However, there is one feature (I would rather call it a bug) in the start menu editor, that almost drives me crazy. When a new entry in the start menu is created and the path/filename is directly entered into the textbox (i.e. without using the buttton that opens the file selection dialog), then the editor always displays the new entry with the broken link symbol (question mark). Although the link is obviously not broken and the start menu entry works okay in TC. Also, the right click context menu "properties" leads to the message "File not found". Please note once more: the file exists, the path is right and the entry works.

And in V5.0 still the "Start and Directory Menu Editor" has the bug as posted on TotalCmd.net - it doesnt find my DirectoryHotlist...

thats how it looks in my ini-file:

Code: Select all

[DirMenu]
menu1=--
menu2=-&0 - Intern
menu3=&A - Autostarts
cmd3=cd \\\StartUpGuard
menu4=&C - CDBrenner

menu23=&6 - %Systemroot%\System32
cmd23=cd %SYSTEMROOT%\system32
menu24=&8 - %ProgramFiles%\System

menu25=&9 - %Commander_Path%
cmd25=cd %COMMANDER_PATH%
menu26=--
menu27=-&2 - Pfade
menu28=&B - BackUps
cmd28=cd E:\BackUp
menu29=&G - Downloads
cmd29=cd e:\Downloads
menu30=&H - Homepage
cmd30=cd e:\Server\htdocs\hp

menu32=&M - MP3s
cmd32=cd e:\MP3s
menu33=&S - Server
cmd33=cd e:\server\htdocs

menu35=&Y - Programme
cmd35=cd D:\Programme
menu36=&Z - System_Software
cmd36=cd E:\System_Software
After Testing a little bit I found out that your Tool has a Problem when the first Item is menu1=-- ...

The size of the "Start and Directory Menu Editor"-Windows is to small at startup - see picture:
http://img105.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img105&image=utcsadme57vg.jpg

The Ultra Main Menu Editor doesnt load the used menu-file automatic at startup... (no everyone uses the TC-default menu...)

So hoping that there is soon a new Version without these bugs... :P

PS: Nice that you resolve %Commander_Path% and such entrys arent shown anymore as Questionmarks in the Start Menu Editor! :)

BTW: The picture posted by Sir_Silva gives a good example of my finding, too. The entry concerning UPX is shown with the question mark icon, but - I'm quite shure - the entry is correct and working.

Okay, maybe. But I have 4 entries in my start menu for UPX (with different command line parameters), they are correct but look exactly like your entry. They were generated by copying the full paths with TC and inserting directly into the textbox of the start menu editor.

Wilhelm
