Screen resolution in wincmd.ini - what is (8x16)?

Post by *Flint »

I have several resolution sections in wincmd.ini: [1152x864 (8x16)], [800x600 (8x16)], [1024x768 (8x16)]. In help file there is an example with [1024x768 (10x20)]. What do these additional numbers (8x16) and (10x20) mean?

Hello Clo,
that could not be because there are two different numbers for the same resolution. I guessed it may be for different color sets (16 bit/24 bit /32bit) but my test did not bring results. ( I changed the divider for quickview in the dfferent resolutions to 200 and 800).
Then I changed the color set - nothing happened.

(8x16) or (10x20) is font size in current resolution
you can change font size from Control Panel> Display> Settings>Advanced>General tab

small font=(8x16)
large font=(10x20)
other=not tested :(

Yes, you are right! Thank you. :)
I tried to set very many different font sizes and found out that TC uses only 2 different settings: 8x16 if font size = 108 pixels (113%) or less, and 10x20 if font size = 109 pixels (114%) or more.

Yes, it's the font size (big fonts or small fonts mode). People may want to use different fonts in either mode.
