Playing *.mp3
I prefer playing mp3 files with TC Lister (internal viewer plays after pressing F3 - as avi, mpg, or other video). Because of a problem with QuickTime plugins for MSIE and an association with my audio player I deleted this association and made a new one. But since this time I can't play mp3 with F3 - it only edits mp3 file. Other media (avi, ...) works fine. I've TC 6.03a and reinstallation didn't help. Can you help me, what I must set else in TC or change in WinXP registry?

On Windows 2000/XP, start regedit and go to the following key location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\MCI Extensions
Here, add a new string value named
mp3
with contents
MPEGVideo

Is this not a Windows default setting? I have TC 6.52 installed and it has never played MP3, WAVs and AVIs are ok but MP3 are just opened as a text file by F3.
The question: When you have just installed Windows XP and after this TC and you open an MP3 file with lister, does it play the file or you always need to change the register?
Thanks.

No, it is a default Windows setting, at least on the Windows versions I tried...

Use a PlugIn
I have no such entry as MCI under currentVersion, but use all the
time "Lister" for MP3.
I assume it is because I am using a PlugIn, which is much much faster, althogh
Some time it will have me hear a long Sqwiq High Pitch tone , or scrach noise instead of Music.
But it is still fine with me.
So the solution seems to be. If you have problems with F3 for MP3 , try one of the many PlugIns there are out there.
Wish I knew which is the best one.
